Chapter 236 - The Odd Big Sister appeared like a light every time. Bright and ephemeral.  (4)

“How are you doing, Grandma?” Lu Shenyuan came inside with his treated leg that was now in a cast, a worried look all over his handsome face.

Mother Lu turned and said, “Grandma is much better now. How’s your leg?”

Lu Shenyuan walked over. “The doctor said it was a bad fall, and I need to rest and not walk for a month.”

Mother Lu was startled. “Why did you come over if the doctor said you shouldn’t be walking? Sit down quickly. Don’t hurt yourself again.”

“It’s fine. Grandma is more important. I will be worried, if I don’t see her myself.”

Lu Shenyuan limped over painfully to the side of Old Mrs. Song’s bed. “Grandma.”

“What happened to your leg?” Old Mrs. Song did not let much show.

“Mom, Shenyuan had fallen down the stairs accidentally and broke his leg.” Mother Lu sighed. What a day today. Her mother ended up in the hospital as did her older son.

Old Mrs. Song looked over at Lu Shenyuan with a dubious look.

She recalled that Xiao Jue was not able to find her medicines in her jacket pockets when she had her episode.

Her jacket was touched by her older grandson. If her medicines were gone, it was most likely taken away by Lu Shenyuan.

But, if that was the case, how was she able to take her pill later on?

Old Mrs. Song thought the incident through a few times, and she felt that none of those had happened. The medicines were right where she had put them. Xiao Jue had located her medicine and fed it to her.

Meeting the Old Madam’s gaze, Lu Shenyuan looked worried and caring. “It was lucky that Little Brother knew to call the ambulance and saved Grandma.”

Lu Shenyuan went on to say, “Grandma, Little Brother cares about you a lot.”

Old Mrs. Song’s look mellowed out a lot. She nodded and said, “Xiao Jue is a good boy.”

Mother Lu returned to the Song house that night.

Ning Zhi learned from Mother Lu’s call to Father Lu that Grandma was fine and that Lu Shenyuan broke one leg and needed to stay in the hospital.

Ning Zhi felt that Lu Shenyuan deserved what he got. She never expected him to take away Grandma’s medicines in cold blood.

If it wasn’t for him, Grandma Song wouldn’t even have died the first time, and Lu Jue would not have been blamed by everyone. Even Mother Lu almost grew apart from her son.

Lu Shenyuan was too calculating of an individual.

He struck silently every time. He didn’t do it very often, but each and every single time was deadly.

Lu Shenyuan was like a lurking poisonous snake. He was insidious and elusive, so cunning that he left behind no trails, no clues, making it difficult to catch him.

Ning Zhi returned to Lu Jue’s room. The Song family had put him in a very spacious guest bedroom with a large patio.

Lu Jue sat there quietly. He only looked up at her when she walked over.

Lu Jue had gotten a lot better by now. He would, at the very minimum, know that she was there and react to her. Unlike how he used to ignore her altogether at the beginning.

Ning Zhi told him, “Grandma is fine now.”

Lu Jue blinked. Her image filled his pitch-black eyes. He knew that Odd Big Sister had saved Grandma.

He reached for Ning Zhi’s hem and gripped it with his slender and long fingers. Much like when he was a child how little Lu Jue had grabbed onto Odd Big Sister’s hem and not wanting her to leave.

He didn’t even want to blink. He wanted to look at her. He had to wait a long time between each of their meetings.

Ning Zhi looked past the young man’s brow and eyes and at his pale fingertips. He was holding onto her hem tightly.

Her heart softened more and more.

He knew that she would be leaving again.

Ning Zhi lowered her head, leaned into him, and planted her lips gently on his clear and handsome face, then at the corner of his lips.

The innocent young man’s eyes widened. His beautiful cherry-blossom eyes were filled with light. “Odd Big Sister.”

Attacked by the sweet and soft scent, the corner of Lu Jue’s lips tickled.

He wanted to feel more of it when, the very next second, the sweet scent disappeared and, along with it, the soft touch.

Lu Jue lowered his eyes.

The Odd Big Sister appeared like a light every time. Bright and ephemeral.
