Chapter 433 - Extra 7 - He was not greedy. He wanted nothing but his Zhizhi. (3)

Learning that Ning Zhi had gone out, Lu Jue walked over to the dining area, a little disappointed. He ate quietly by himself.

After he was done eating, he sat on the couch and waited for Ning Zhi’s return while holding onto the little box.

He sat there with his back straight. He carefully straightened up the wrinkles in his shirt. He wanted Zhizhi to see the best of him.

The strong sun disappeared bit by bit and the setting sun casted down on the trees. The night arrived shortly after the sun disappeared bit by bit.

Seeing that Ning Zhi had sat there in a daze all day long without moving or even having any water, the butler walked over and said to him, “Young Master Lu Jue, dinner is ready.”

Lu Jue’s lips were pinched shut tightly, almost too pale looking. His back remained very straight and there was no light in his bp eyes. He did not respond.

The butler could tell that he was waiting for their miss and he said, “The miss has something to take care of today and will be home very late. You can eat first, Young Master Lu Jue.”

Lu Jue lowered his eyes. His clear and handsome face was exceptionally cold and pale under the light.

The night swallowed up all of the setting sun and the sky was completely dark and getting darker by the minute.

The dishes on the table had turned cold and the butler had the servant brought them back and kept them warm in the kitchen.

Lu Jue sat quietly and stubbornly on the couch. As though his body could not feel any numbness, he had never moved from his position, still holding onto the little box in his hand. The edges of the box left marks on his palm.

“Young Master, you can get some rest in your room. The miss won’t be home for a little while longer,” said the butler.

Lu Jue’s lowered his eyelids, his lips pale. He said nothing and his clear and handsome eyes and brows were filled with stubbornness.

The butler had tried to reach out to Ning Zhi a while ago but it seemed that her cellphone was out of battery and was shut off.

It was the miss’s birthday today but also the day that their master and mistress passed away. Ever since their passing, their miss had stopped celebrating her birthday. She would go visit her parents at the cemetery and stayed out until midnight before returning home.

The butler was already familiar with this routine and, as such, tried to talk Lu Jue out of waiting there.

He looked at the time. It was closed to 10 o’clock.

Lu Jue seemed to not feel tiredness and insisted on waiting for Ning Zhi’s return.

The butler had no choice but sent the others to turn in.

The Ning’s spacious living room quieted down. Lu Jue was the only one remaining now.

He moved and got up. His red shirt seemed to have lost some of its vibrancy. Lu Jue walked over and waited at the steps in the front of the house. He wanted to be the first thing that Zhizhi would see when she got home.

The night got deeper.

The Ning’s metal gate swung open and a black car drove inside.

Ning Zhi got out of the car. She had on white dress and, in the night, her cheeks were blushing and even her beautiful eyes looked moist.

Ning Zhi’s gait was not steady.

She walked through the garden slowly and over to the house.

Seeing a black silhouette squatting there on the steps, Ning Zhi blinked. She said uncertainly, “Lu Jue?”

Lu Jue looked up from the steps. His face was pale and his lips dry and pale. Seeing Ning Zhi standing in front of him, his bp eyes finally lit up.

“Zhizhi.”

His voice was low and hoarse.

Lu Jue looked like a puppy eagerly waiting for its owner to come home. There would only be light in his eyes when he saw Zhizhi.

“What are you doing here?” asked Ning Zhi in surprise.

“Waiting for Zhizhi.” Lu Jue stood up and handed the little box that he had been holding onto this entire time over to Ning Zhi. “Happy birthday, Zhizhi.”
