Finding My Father - CH 187

Title: I Have Decided to Look for My Real Father
Translator: Fringe Alpaca
Chapter 187 - Some looked forward to Gu Xi's performance; others wondered if she would crash and burn. (3)

The opening ceremony, with the exception of the representatives from each class announcing their motto and caught some attention, the remaining portion of it, in Dong Mingming’s words, were cookie cutter and very boring.

The only pleasant surprise was probably the fact that Gu Yanlin, their legendary alum, gave a speech as their outstanding alum.

***

After the opening ceremony that lasted almost the entire morning, it was finally the time for the exhibit portion of the Art Festival.

This portion was quite similar to what Gu Xi had experienced back at Liming. The school would display outstanding work – art, literature, science-related, or photographs of various activities…. It covered a wide variety.

Gu Yanxiao and the others had visited the exhibition during the previous Art Festival and were not particularly enthralled by this section.

Quite the contrary, the adults were quite interested.

It was like a marketplace ……

Was Gu Chenyi’s thoughts of it.

Welp, that did not matter. What mattered were the photos.

“This was a game between Xiao Yi and Yanxiao? You two are not on the same team?”

“Nonsense. We are not in the same class.”

“Haha, and then there’s this one. This was the award ceremony from that competition that Xixi and Xiao Yi went, right?”

“What’s this one?”

“The commendation after the award ceremony.” Gu Chenyi explained to one side. He looked displeased. He was on the team too. Why was it that it was Su Xiuying and Gu Xi up there during the commendation segment afterward?

“What are all these photos? So stupid. Why did they take these?” So they wanted to take photos. Must it be a shot of when Gu Yanxiao had blocked his shot? That was so embarrassing.

Gu Chenyi’s words got him glares from the adults.

“You don’t understand that at your age. These are things that are worthy of recording as you grow up. They would all turn into memories in the future,” said First Uncle of the Gu family from experience.

They would take pictures of them. Old Mr. Gu was waiting to make them into photo albums.

“Where else are more exhibitions?”

“This is more or less the end of it,” said Gu Chenyi.

Gu Yanxiao, too, agreed with him. “There’s nothing more worth looking at after this point. We should go and get ourselves good seats at the auditorium.” There were so many people here today. What if they weren’t able to get front row seats for Xixi’s performance.

All the other Gu family members agreed with him.

Gu Shao gave everyone a calm look, expressing that: As Daddy Sponsor, he did not need to worry about securing himself a good spot.

***

After the exhibition segment, the most-anticipated closing ceremony that was slotted to start in the evening started on time.

The giant photo wall at the entrance of the venue naturally caught a lot of attention.

With the three Gu family members’ “same-style effect”, the photo wall was no longer its original cute version. Per everyone’s request, the photo wall had been converted into a light-hearted, goofy style per everyone’s requests.

Comparing to its past, the photo wall received unexpected popularity this year.

Gu Xian, too, looked over at the wall with a cold look. He had, naturally, already found out from Gu Chenyi how Gu Xi’s “ugly” photo was purposefully placed on there and was smeared by others in the forum.

“Such was the work of Gu Yaobai and the Sun family,” said Gu Xian in a deep voice.

Gu Feng, next to him, patted him on his shoulder and said, “The kids can handle the kid matters among themselves.”

Subtext: They would take care of the adult issues.

Thinking of that, a rare coldness flashed through the eyes of the oldest of the Gu brothers.

***

Entering the auditorium and with Gu Shao’s halo, everybody received seats in the middle of the second row.

The closing ceremony began and representatives from each class began their performances.

Not surprisingly, Class #7 was performing poem recital again this year.

What was different this year was Su Xiuying’s participation.

Because of the participation of the male god, the poem recital that would have been “toilet break time” the entire time gave the feel that it was very spectacular, very exciting, and very breath-taking from the shrieking of the girls from below the stage.
