Title: I Have Decided to Look for My Real Father
Translator: Fringe Alpaca
Chapter 211 - "Haven't I already said that this topic is unrealistic? What happened here?" (1)

Something occurred to Old Boss Hu and he looked worse than he did before.

If the organizer followed Gu Shao’s idea and maintained their evaluation, then if and when Gu Xi and her team provided evidence, it’d be the organizer that was faceslapped. In fact, it would also tarnish the reputation of the Youth Innovation Competition to a certain degree.

They might even need to publicly apologize for their “mistake” in their evaluation.

Old Boss Hu didn’t want that to happen but, facing Gu Shao right now, he still put on a friendly smile and nodded in agreement.

“That will not be a problem at all. From the perspective of being thorough, we are very supportive of competitors diving down deeper into the subject and proving the rationality of their topic,” said Old Boss Hu while maintaining his righteous air. Giving Gu Shao a careful glance, he added, “As for time, it might seem a bit rushed. But that is alright, the time allowed for the important segments are flexible. If one week isn’t enough, we can extend it to 2-3 weeks.

“What do you think about a month, Professor Gu?” asked Old Boss Hu, bowing down slightly. Showing Gu Shao as much respect as possible.

As soon as Old Boss Hu had finished talking, however, he was once again, shut down by Gu Shao.

“We don’t need that much time. As the organizer only allotted us a week initially, we’ll just stick with one week.” Gu Shao looked at the time: A week should be sufficient.

Old Boss Hu was very surprised by Gu Shao’s statement. Naturally, he wouldn’t object to that either.

“Alright,” said Old Boss Hu and apologized to Gu Shao one more time. “This was certainly a mistake on our part. We appreciate your understanding, Professor Gu.”

After Old Boss Hu’s departure, Xu Fei finally chimed in, “Boss, Wu Pei said earlier that they could expend the time accordingly. I didn’t think that was a bad idea.”

Having more time was not a bad thing. Both Xixi’s end and their end would have more time and less pressure.

As soon as Xu Fei was done saying that, Gu Shao glanced over at him nonchalantly.

“What does she need so much time for? Doesn’t she have other schoolwork to tend to?”

Xu Fei, “……” Alllright, he got what his boss’s intention was not. He wasn’t showing respect to those at the Youth Innovation Competition; he was worried that if this dragged out too long, it would cut into his daughter’s study time.

Nevertheless, why did he feel that he also detected a hint of contempt and resentment in Boss Gu’s eyes.

***

On the other end, Old Boss Hu wiped away sweat from his forehead and felt relieved. He was, however, baffled about something.

He could tell that Professor Gu wasn’t going to let this subject drop.

His daughter had, after all, been wronged. It would only make sense that he would want to make a statement as a parent.

Old Boss Hu, however, couldn’t begin to fantom how Gu Shao would be able to proof the rationality behind Gu Xi’s topic.

***

Old Boss Hu would never have guessed that Gu Shao wasn’t going to try and prove it theoretically or make a statement as an authority figure in the field. Instead, he was going to create the actual product!

A week after the re-evaluation of Gu Xi and her team’s grade at the Youth Innovation Competition, NTN unveiled a “long distance relaying of smell and taste” machine at a high tech convention.

The machine labeled “T&S Relaying” was not yet available and was still in its conceptual state. Nevertheless, it’s operation system was already fairly complete. Anyone could see it clearly see and taste the relaying of taste and smell over a distance.

A machine like this was refreshing and dazed and amazed many of the visitors.

Under the summary of the project, it was specifically labelled that its design inspiration stemmed from Gu Xi’s team’s topic.

The only different was that Gu Xi and her team’s topic was still at its theoretical stage, but NTN had already turned it into a reality. The differences between the two was way more than just a few electronic components or a few lines of codes.

In addition, it had successfully adopted the electronic stimulation of the nerves that was only briefly mentioned in Gu Xi’s topic had been successfully adopted.

Had Gu Xi been there in person, she would have been in awed when discovering that the concept was not only the same as hers but was actually better than hers.
