Finding My Father - CH 267

Title: I Have Decided to Look for My Real Father

Chapter 267 - This pixelation technique looked somewhat familiar. (1)

The discussion went slowly from worries to curiosity.

Under everyone’s attention, Sheng Xiuyan continued to control the frontend demonstration and Gu Xi picked up the introduction portion.

“As you have all seen, our Smart Companion System is an improvement basing on your everyday smart family robot. 70% of it was basic smart control and interaction; whereas the other 30% is self-learning capabilities……” said Gu Xi.

Her voice was soft and crisp that could only belong to a girl and there was even a hint of nervousness if one was to listen carefully.

Nevertheless, her introduction was clear.

“From Xibao’s current behavior, can you tell me what kind of a person her owner is?” She brought up a question.

“An elderly person?” Someone speculated.

Others, too, started to chime in.

“Someone who has poor eyesight.”

“With high blood pressure.”

“They like traditional music.”

“Not too cultured.”

“Southerner?”

Gu Xi was not able to hear the audiences’ responses from the stage so, after a short pause, she went on to say, “The owner of this Xibao is a 78-year-old elderly.”

“This user was not just someone that we had created out of thin air nor had we pre-loaded certain selections into Xibao’s program. You will be able to see that from the data section on the screen on the left-hand side.”

On the screen were lines and lines of codes. Gu Xi had no idea what they meant; she just repeated what was told to her by Gu Yanlin.

Then, Gu Xi continued to say, “All we did was picked out an user randomly and applied some of what he talked about normally and translated them into messages to Xibao. The system detected the user’s voice and performed learning and analysis on his usual habits, stuff the searched about on a regular basis and adjusted itself according to its ‘owner’s preferences. We did not engage in his part and it was all done by the system independently.”

That was very much similar to humans getting to know each other. As such, it could also be interpreted as a sort of “anthropomorphizing” of the artificial intelligence.

There were quite a few professionals in the audiences and, listening to what Gu Xi was saying along with the data on the screen, they began to understand the main point of this project and was inevitably amazed.

“If that’s the case, that is quite something!”

“’Anthropomorphizing’? Haha. The young people of this generation has quite some ideas.”

“True. I guess you can call that a sort of future technology.”

“Even though it was just a program to self-learn and self-adjust, but the research of it entails a lot.”

Gu Xi and her team concluded their demonstration amidst the audiences’ exclamations and discussion.

On the other side, from inside the control room of the competition organizer, the entire event was streamed to a large monitor.

A few workers inside the control room couldn’t help but talked about it some after the demonstration of Gu Xi’s team.

“This team is so amazing. I say they have a very good shot at taking first place. Your daughter is amazing.” The organizer of the competition, standing next to Gu Shao, couldn't help but started with her flattery.

Upon hearing that, Gu Shao merely glanced over at the organizer nonchalantly. There was no happiness from anticipation that the organizer was expected. In fact, Gu Shao even frowned a little.

Right when the organizer was wondering about it, Gu Shao said in a deep voice, “My daughter does not need to be labeled some sort of a genius.”

That would be a lot of pressure.

Besides, the person who completed the technical part was Gu Yanlin. Without him, Gu Xi and Sheng Xiuyan along would not have been able to have such performance.

As for the project itself. Its idea was sound but Gu Shao wouldn’t necessarily say that it was #1 material.

Gu Shao had taken the time to look over all of the other projects that had made it to the exhibition stage. Truth be told, with Gu Xi’s team’s current development and results, they were somewhere in the middle and high end of the pack. They should be able to make it to the next round but, after that, it would all depend on how far they could take the project.

The organizer looked a bit nervous upon hearing Gu Shao’s response and she seemed to have noticed that she had misspoke. Parting her lips a bit and hesitated for a few seconds, she finally decided to keep her mouth shut and not to draw more attention to herself.

Xu Fei, next to them, lifted his brows, glanced over at the organizer, and thought to himself, “She totally missed the key point in brownnosing.”
