Chapter 271 - That turned into an inexplicable incident at HSAU. (2)
If only Dong Mingming would find out that one of her two male gods could grumble about something from before dinner all the way to after dinner and the other one could single-handedly built a 99-story high rise (TL: # of comments in a discussion chain); one of them bizarrely fixated on pink color for girls and the other one deeply intrigued by emoji well-loved by elderlies, Gu Xi wondered if Dong Mingming would have a change of heart then.
Gu Xi patted Dong Mingming on her shoulder and gave her a sympathetic look.
“What’s the matter?” asked Dong Mingming, baffled.
Gu Xi shook her head, “Nothing…..” Gu Xi decided against telling Dong Mingming the truth when she saw the excitement and happiness on Dong Mingming’s face.
Sheng Xiuyan, who was sleeping on his desk on the other side of the classroom, however, felt an inexplicable chill down his spine.
“What’s the matter, Brother Yan?”
He saw Sheng Xiuyan said calmly and expressionlessly, “So cold that I had woken up.”

Over on this side, Gu Xi, sitting in her own spot, picked up her phone and combed through all of the available competitions over the holidays and written down the ones that she could join. She then marked the ones with high cash prizes.
Dong Mingming looked at her with a quizzical look.
“Classmate Gu Xi, I have a serious question to ask.”
“What is it?” Gu Xi turned and looked at Dong Mingming.
“Are competitions addicting?” asked Dong Mingming. The number of competitions in Gu Xi’s little notebook could almost rival the workdays of a star.
Gu Xi paused and stopped what she was doing when she heard that. “I don’t think so?”
“Then why is it that you are so fixated on these competitions?” mumbled Dong Mingming.
And, she wasn’t sure if she was just imagining it, she felt that Gu Xi wanted to get rich from these competitions?
Especially when Gu Xi made a point of marking down the cash prize after each of them.
As she was contemplating how to answer Dong Mingming’s question, their conversation was disrupted by a disturbance in the classroom.
“What happened?” Gu Xi looked in the direction of where the noise originated from and asked quizzically.
The Art Committee member from in front of them turned around and clued the two in, “They are talking about matters regarding the Quality Development Outing.”
“Quality Development Outing?” Dong Mingming’s eyes lit up when she heard that. “Have they set a date for it yet?”
“That’s what they are saying.” The Art Committee member blinked and said, “Wang Luyan saw the program in the teacher’s lounge. It’s Friday after next to Saturday.”
“That’s awesome!” Dong Mingming swung Gu Xi’s hand excitedly.
Gu Xi had an idea why the others were so excited after listening to their conversation.
Gu Xi knew about the Quality Development Outing. It wasn’t an activity exclusive to HSAU. Truth was, many high schools in City B had held Quality Development Outing traditionally. Most of the time it would land toward the end of the semester for freshmen and sophomores and usually all the schools had them around the same time.
Many of the schools would request the parents to join as well.
As for the actual program… something similar to a fall trip, perhaps?
Gu Xi wasn’t too sure.
“Gu Xi, let’s form a team together then!” said Dong Mingming as she held Gu Xi’s hand.
“Sure……” Gu Xi nodded vaguely then couldn't help but asked, “What are some of the activities?”
She could think about what she needed to prepare.
“The program? Well, it’s like ––“ Half way through her talking, Dong Mingming stopped all of a sudden and looked at Gu Xi quizzically. “You don’t know what you do during Quality Development Outing?
“Didn’t your old school have it? That doesn’t make sense. I recall that Liming does have Quality Development Outing.”
With the exception of a few high schools in City B that emphasized primarily on the academic and would do nothing other than lessons in classrooms, all of the other ones more or less have Quality Development Outing programs. There were a few who didn’t care much about it and would only have a makeshift one on campus for half a day.
Liming was not one of them.
Dong Mingming seemed to recall that Liming and HSAU were together at the same location the year prior.
