Chapter 88 -  The Way Back to the Homestay (3)

This was when it had occurred to Jiang NingNing that her and Chi Ying haven’t added each other on their Weibo yet.

Chi Ying gave her a slight smile and said, “You can just search for my name.”

Jiang NingNing quickly found Chi Ying’s Weibo account and her alias was “Actress Chi Ying”. After the attention that she had drawn a few days ago, she already has tens of thousands of fans following her account.

Jiang NingNing quickly added her and try to scroll down… but it wouldn’t scroll.

Surprised, Jiang NingNing said, “Yingying, you have never posted anything to your Weibo!”

Chi Ying smiled and said, “Yeah, I was never in the habit of posting anything.”

The original owner deleted her Weibo account the year she dropped out of school. She hasn’t officially debuted yet so this account hasn’t been logged in in a while.

Jiang NingNing thought to herself, if only she was as pretty as Chi Ying, she’d take 10,000 pictures a day and post them. It’d at least be a good deeds for those who appreciated them.

“You should try to post something. Just a picture. Perhaps… you could become super popular just from your look alone.”

Jiang NingNing wasn’t entirely wrong. She must have some visibility from time to time in order to remain in public’s attention.

Chi Ying picked a few photos that they had taken at the night market with Cheng Huan faded out into the background, made them into a 3x3 collage and posted them. Caption was: Sharing some of my photos.

After she had posted them, a lot of red bubbles appeared in the comment section.

Hangyi Corporation was hosting a charity ball and it’s already in its second half right now.

Lu JingYan was invited to this ball. He was sitting quietly in a corner and, limited by the height of the chair, his long legs very much stuck out in front of him.

He was looking nonchalantly at a crystal wine glass with brandy inside of it. His temperament cold and distant, as though he was in a different world right now.

The light-yellow fluid inside the glass was crystal clear and sloshed around gently inside the wine glass.

Its color was light, but its effect was strong.

His Adam’s apple rolled and the alcohol burned its way down his throat all the way to his stomach. His entire chest could feel the burn.

Jiang Chong answered a call from the patio and returned looking worried.

He tightened up his sweaty fists a bit before he was able to work up the courage and said hesitantly, “Boss Lu…”

Lu JingYan looked up at him.

“Detective Long said Cheng Huan was in City Z, the tourist district.”

“What was he doing there?”

Jiang Chong felt himself breaking out into cold sweat.

Ever since he returned from City Z, Boss Lu had been working nonstop day and night.

Oushi’s market share continued to increase and its stock price rose to its max. Yet, he was getting more and more worried.

There were many things that Boss Lu did not need to take care of by himself.

Something must have happened the night he visited City Z. It must have to do with Chi Ying. He could tell, but he didn’t know exactly what had happened.

“Cheng Huan had been arrested and held at City Z’s police station. Someone reported that they were stalked. The one who called the police very well could be… Chi Ying.”

Lu JingYan looked very solemn. Reflexively he started saying, “Book…”

But he wasn’t able to finish his sentence.

Chi Ying didn’t want to see him. She didn’t need him and she wouldn’t fall for him.

He could clearly remember that tender and bright smile that she had on her when she was inside of her room, as though she had everything that she had ever wanted in life. But, in front of him, every word and every sentence were nothing but coldness and distance.

She’s already with that little young actor now, right? He thought to himself sarcastically. He was surrounded by a sense of chill.

The president of Ruishen Corporation’s came over to toast to him.

A middle-aged man in his 50s, he bowed respectfully to Lu JingYan. “Boss Lu.”

“Pardon me.”

Lu JingYan nodded slight to him before he walked quickly toward the exit of the venue.

Tortured by both heartache and worry, he wasn’t able to control himself.
