Chapter 111 - Lu JingYan’s nightmare might have something to do with her (2)

Chi Ying had only been gone for a few days but she felt that Chi Cheng had grown a lot.

Looking at his familiar face again made it seem like ages had passed.

Chi Cheng ran into his mommy with such force that both mother and son always fell backward.

“Be careful now,” said Jing Zheng, but there was a smile on her face. She had a beautiful pair of cherry-blossom eyes and they were sparkling. She looked very young for her age and Chi Ying inherited that from her.

Chi Ying picked up Chi Cheng and noticed that the little kiddo was holding a card in his hand.

When Chi Cheng gave YueYue the card on Monday it had made her very happy. Ever since then, Chi Cheng had equated cards with happiness.

He handed the card over to Chi Ying, buried his head in her neck and stuck onto her like a piece of gum.

Chi Ying had showered before her trip back so she smelled very good.

“Are you tired, Mommy?” asked Chi Cheng childishly as though realizing that he might be a bit heavy.

“No, not at all.” Chi Ying gave him a kiss and snuggled with him for a while longer before she carried him over to the dinner table.

Chi Cheng swinged his little legs back and forth and rested his chin on his palms while he waited for his mother to scoop him a bowl of rice.

The table full of food was reflected in his black onyx like eyes.

Looking at the innocent Chi Cheng, Chi Ying had a lot of mixed feelings all of a sudden. There had been some subtle changes to her mentality.

Both Lu JingYan and the original owner have perfect genes and Chi Cheng got his perfection from both of them.

She understood the feelings that Lu JingYan had for her, or for the original owner, to be more precise.

As of today, there had been some subtle changes to the original storyline of this world.

Could it be possible that…

Lu JingYan would not hurt her or Chi Cheng?

Perhaps he might even be able to…

Make up for the missing piece in Chi Cheng’s life?

Chi Ying shook her head again quickly and ended her abrupt and bold assumptions.

When something out of the norm took place, there must be an underlying reason.

But it was irrational to blindly believe that Lu JingYan was the reason for that.

While she was zoning out, Chi Ying received a call from Dr. Chen.

She accepted the call after hesitating for about two seconds.

Chi Ying thought that perhaps Lu JingYan needed her for something.

But then Chen Jin explained that he wanted to talk to her personally.

Chi Ying accepted his invitation.

She fell silent after hanging up the call.

It was Chen Jin, Lu JingYan’s personal doctor, who had called her. Not Lu JingYan. Not Jiang Chong.

Chi Ying had an inkling that Chen Jin had sought her out because Lu JingYan’s nightmares had something to do with her.

That was what her instinct told her.

Chi Cheng’s chubby little arm waving in front of her brought her back to reality.

Blinking his large eyes filled with curiosity, Chi Cheng asked, “Who called?”

His lips drooped a little and there was a hint of unjust and disappointment in his eyes.

Noticing her mistake, Chi Ying quickly refocused her attention back onto Chi Cheng and his lunch.

She had already been away from Chi Cheng a lot due to her work. She could not let him have the misimpression that she had met someone at work that could further take away her attention from him.

Chi Ying curved her lips and said, “A friend of mine.”

She dared not get distracted again. She wanted Chi Cheng to know for certain that no matter how far apart they were, for however long, he’d always be the most important existence to her.
