“Okay, let me check with my mom then.” There were stars in Chi Cheng’s eyes when he talked about his mother.

“Oh.” YueYue sighed. “I’m so envious of you. I have no mom or dad.”

Chi Cheng was very surprised, “The aunty that picks you up every day is not your mom?”

YueYue bit her finger. Her two pigtails swinging from side to side. “No, she’s my adopted mother.”

“My mother passed away.” She made a face as though that didn’t bother her.

Chi Cheng let out a light “Oh.” He didn’t really understand the concept of death.

“What is an adopted mother? Is it a kind of mother?” asked Chi Cheng curiously.

“I am not sure about that either.” YueYue gripped her uniform dress quickly. “That’s how I have always referred to her.”

A chubby boy from the class next to them walked in their direction. YueYue didn’t like the boy so she turned away and ran towards the bathroom.

She didn’t forget to turn back and say to Chi Cheng, emphasizing every single word, “Remember. To. Come. To. My. Place!”

The girl’s soft voice resounded in the early fall air. Quickly, her voice was lost within the laughter coming from the classrooms.

Lu JingYan was sitting up in bed reading some documents. His hand with its defined knuckles was flipping through the pages from time to time. Occasionally, he’d lift up the pen, write something and place it down. His handwriting was full of force and his penmanship was remarkable.

He had slept all night long. He was still running a slight fever but he was no longer sleepy. Oushi’s retrieving their capital from Huanyu was just the tip of an iceberg. Within just two short days, not only was the Cheng’s construction business close to bankruptcy, the effect had rippled to other areas of their business as well. This was no doubt a tremendous wakeup call for Cheng Ye( Old Mr. Cheng).

He had given Lu JingYan a call half an hour ago.

He had informed Lu JingYan that Cheng Huan would not be allowed to leave the house for the next three months and all of his control over the Cheng’s businesses had been taken away from him. He reassured Lu JingYan that they would continue to keep a close eye out on Cheng Huan even after the three months were up. They asked to extend the partnership between the two companies.

It was not yet the time for both parties to suffer huge losses as the Cheng’s could still be of use to Oushi. The retracting of their capital this time did not end their partnership entirely yet was successful in conveying their message. That was exactly what Lu JingYan had intended.

Even so, there were still a lot of withstanding matters for him to take care of. He had only been gone for a day and his work had already been piling up.

Lu JingYan’s brows were furrowed and he was flipping through pages after pages of documents in silence. He still felt a little bit groggy and his temples were throbbing. Even so, he was still exercising amazing concentration and being very efficient at his work.

The bottle of IV fluid was almost empty. Because of the force from writing and that the IV was almost empty, some of the blood went back up, causing a pinkish color at the end of the IV tube.

Lu JingYan was highly focused on his work until the phone that he had placed next to the bed rang.

Lu JingYan was stunned the moment he saw the caller ID displayed on the phone.

From the other end came the girl’s soft and gentle voice that had easily dissipated the heaviness and anxiety that had been sitting on his mind. “I’m right outside your place right now.”

Lu JingYan depressed the button by his bed and reached his butler through the intercom.

He looked over and finally noticed that the fluid in the bottle was already depleted. He did not reach out to Xiao Jiang, Chen Jin’s assistant, to switch to a new bottle, but instead yanked the IV out directly.

A few drops of blood dripped down from the IV tube. Lu JingYan frowned and quickly wiped them away with a tissue. He had no intention of appearing fragile or disheveled in front of her.
