Chapter 126 - "I can promise you that, but I have a request in exchange." (1)

“You are being careless.”

His voice, magnetic and solemn and cold like the night, fell from above her.

Chi Ying quickly said, “I wasn’t being careless. I saw it and got out of its just in time…”

Lu JingYan looked unhappy. “It was too close to you.” What she said wasn’t enough to alleviate his anger.

Chi Ying recalled how Lu JingYan was drenched in sweat when he had his nightmares. She didn’t know exactly what was the content of his dreams, but she knew that the anxiousness was not a pleasant feeling.

Tugging Lu JingYan on his hand, she comforted him softly. “I’ll take good care of myself. Not just now, even during other times…”

Before she was even finished with what she was saying, he had picked up her hand that was touching him without giving her a chance to object.

Lu JingYan’s palm was cold and slightly clammy.

Chi Ying blushed but did not try to pull her hand away. She stopped what she was saying all of a sudden.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” said Lu JingYan in a low voice. The girl’s hand was soft and warm and stirred up electric current that travelled from his palm throughout his entire body. It made him shudder. His ears turned a little red but, luckily, the night hid them perfectly.

The irritation that he had been feeling started to dissipate.

His heart warmed by the sensation, Lu JingYan walked over to the park with Chi Ying without hesitation.

There was a group of security at the entrance of the park and a wooden sign that said on it, “Park closed tonight. No visitors.”

The workers who had been waiting in the security booth for a while now went out to welcome them respectfully. The organizer of this even was at the very front.

He bowed slightly to them and said, “Hi, Boss Lu. Hi, Miss Chi.”

With her hand in his, Lu JingYan acknowledged them nonchalantly.

The organizer had on him a professional smile. “Enjoy the park.”

Behind them was a row of individuals looking curiously at the two holding hands.

Lu JingYan was Oushi’s sole heir. He was prideful and noble, cold and restraint. All these years of him being in the public eyes, there had never been any scandals around him.

And now, there was someone… who could melt this iceberg?

They were shocked and couldn’t help but looked over at Chi Ying a few extra times.

Once they’ve looked over at her, they were not able to look away.

She was still a young girl and her features hadn’t fully reached their final form yet. Her skin was light colored and her body curvy. Her legs were long and slender.

Her dark black hair cascaded down behind her and she looked like a fairy in the middle of the night. She was not seductive though. Rather, she was quite and tender.

When she smiled softly, her eyes were pure and clear. Their heart’s throbbed in their chest and it felt like their hearts just might jump out of their throats.

Their blatant stare affected Lu JingYan’s mood. Raising his brows, there were displeasures in his eyes. He said coldly, “Are you done looking?”

The organizer quickly apologized to them. All of the workers slowly recollected themselves and stopped their rude staring.

The Lake Park was a park that was carefully designed by the government. Its view had an A4 rating.

Due to the light show, all the lights on the streets were off. The stretch of road into the park was dim and there was only the white moonlight casting onto the ground.

The breeze at night was a bit chilly and Lu JingYan couldn't help but hold onto Chi Ying’s hand tightly.

Right now, they were the only ones inside of this park.

Chi Ying couldn't help but chuckled. “Lu JingYan, I feel that you have some sort of misunderstanding of what a light show is about.”

“Hmm?” Lu JingYan looked over at her, perplexed.

“A light show is supposed to be a festive gathering, with lots of people participating. But we are the only two here right now,” said Chi Ying.

Lu JingYan lifted the corners of his mouth slightly and said, “Or it could be the gathering of lights. There are plenty of lights, and just the right number of people.”
