Chapter 45 - The Prettiest… (3)

As he was talking, he pulled out his cellphone app, typed in the keyword, and showed the first link to Cheng Huan.

It was an article that was reposted by a somewhat popular entertainment channel. It included a small clip from the video with captions that with her look, why even bother running a food booth, she could totally just join the entertainment circle and would be prettier than so-and-so.

There were both positive and negative comments. The fans of the said actress said Cheng Huan was plain looking and wasn’t good enough to be compared with their idol. The actress’s black fans said that her photos were all edited, and that she should post some of her plain pictures.

The two groups were at each other’s throats and occasionally there would be some other random comments.

Cheng Huan didn’t know what to make of it and felt that these people just have too much free time on hand.

She wasn’t happy that Chen Nian filmed her without her consent, but looking at the customers who could barely fit under her canopy and the ingredients that were already half gone, her anger had already dissipated before it was formed.

Ah well. It wasn’t all bad. At least her business got better, right?

Even though the income they brought was a good thing, Cheng Huan did not agree to taking pictures with them.

“I’m just a person who makes BBQ, taking pictures with you is….”

She didn’t finish her sentence, but the others knew what she was trying to say. Most of them could understand that not everyone enjoyed living under the spotlight.

Even though they were somewhat disappointed, most of those gathered around disbursed slowly. Some of them felt that they couldn’t just have a wasted trip and took some pictures without consent and posted Cheng Huan into their friends’ circles, expressing that the beauty was truly beautiful. And even ten times prettier than her picture in person.

After bragging to their friends, even those they only went there for Cheng Huan felt that it wasn’t entirely a wasted trip. It was already dinner time; they might as well have some food before they take off.

Consider that a fee to visit her.

Cheng Huan was efficient and didn’t make them wait long.

The ones that were only there to check out the pretty girl didn’t have too much expectation for the food. They figured as long as it didn’t taste bad, it’d be fine. But the moment the food was in their mouth, all of their ideas went out of their heads. The ones who didn’t order a lot even regretted their own hesitations.

Why was it that such a pretty woman could make such good food?!

Those who already received their orders ate with their heads lowered like they hadn’t eaten in days. The rest of them gulped secretly while looking at others devouring their food and smelling the aroma in the air.

After all the temptation, they became one of those who devoured their food voraciously when their orders were ready.

The crowd was very pleased with the outcome of their trip; both their eyes and mouth were satiated.

More and more people continued to come. When the number of people had exceeded the capacity of the canopy, a line formed on the outside.

Cheng Huan was the first to close down her booth today. Everything was sold out a little bit after 9:15 PM. When she was closing up, more were still arriving. They were very disappointed to find out that she has sold out all of her food.

When she got home, the bedroom light was still on and XingXing was still up and reading a comic book that Cheng Huan had bought for him on his stomach.

The story was very interesting in the comic and XingXing could guess most of the meaning even if he couldn’t read the words. XingXing prodded his head up on one hand and flipped the comic with the other. When he was tired, he’d switch his hands. He was reading very attentively.

“Why are you still up?” Habitually, Cheng Huan walked into the bedroom to check on him first before she went to shower. She wasn’t very happy that XingXing was still up. When she saw that he was reading on his stomach, she got angrier and angrier quickly.

Cheng Huan walked inside the bedroom and ripped the comic from him as she knocked on his head with her knuckle. She lectured him with a straight face. “Who said you can read like that? How many times have mommy told you that you can read so close up? Reading too close to the book would give you nearsightedness.”

The little kiddo saw that his mother was home, but he was already lectured before he was elated. He withered up like a grass without water. He lowered his head, twisted his fingers together, and added, “I won’t be able to see Mommy if I have nearsightedness.”

“Oh, so you do know that!” Cheng Huan poked him on his forehead angrily. “So you did that on purpose.”

XingXing pouted. Obviously feeling unjust, he kept his head lowered. Cheng Huan was about to say something else when XingXing suddenly looked up at her, crawled a couple steps forward on his knees, and said to her through his teary eyes, “But I am scared being home by myself.”
