Chapter 232 - Seeing his cheeks turn red visibly, Tong Xuelu was dumbfounded. (2)

After Wen Rugui found out about the sentencing, he took time off and returned to the city.

He first went to visit Jiang Danhong.

Jiang Danhong had been following Jiang Huarong’s case. She knew that he had received the death sentence while the other members of the Jiang family were being sent to the farm.

She was so emotional again that tears were streaming down her cheeks.

Her retaliation against the Jiang family was over. All that was left was the captain of the Red Star production team and his son.

She would not let anyone who had wronged her get away!

After learning that she remained determined on reporting her husband’s family, Wen Rugui nodded and said, “If you have your mind made up, we will help you!”

Jiang Danhong said with appreciation, “Thank you, Comrade Wen. If it wasn’t for you, I would have never been able to avenge my little brother!”

Pu Jianyi, who standing next to them, “???”

What about me? What about me?

She only thanked Wen Rugui. But he had helped too!

Jiang Danhong acted like she didn’t see his longing look at all and just ignored him.

It wasn’t so much that Jiang Danhong was being unappreciative, but during her stay at the Pu’s, Pu Jianyi didn’t stop trying to talk her out of reporting her husband’s family.

She had wanted very much to punch him in his face, but she couldn’t as he had helped her a lot in the past.

He had never tried to walk in her shoes. Who was he to tell her to be forgiving?

She was already kind enough to not have punched him. And he wanted her to thank him?

That was hilarious!

As the child of war heroes, the Jiang’s house was reassigned to her.

She could also get back a portion of her dowries, but Jiang Danhong had declined that offer. Instead, she handed them all over to the country.

In addition to those, she could also pick a position out of those held by the Jiang family members.

After some consideration, Jiang Danhong decided to be a teacher.

She had taught at the production team. As such, teaching was the only skill that she possessed.

After the Jiang family had been sent to the farm, Jiang Danhong moved from Pu Jianyi’s place to the Jiang’s.

She, however, did not plan on staying there for very long. Her plan was to sell the house as soon as possible.

Then she would move into the dormitory provided by the school.

***

The matters with Jiang Danhong had more or less been wrapped up. As for reporting her husband’s family, it was a much easier process than filing a report on Jiang Huarong.

There would be others who would follow up. Wen Rugui would not need to be engaged in that personally.

After he had parted ways with Jiang Danhong, he took a trip home.

When Old Mr. Wen saw him again, he frowned immediately.

“You took more time off? You have taken more time off this year than the last 7 to 8 years combined!”

Old Mr. Wen was happy to see his grandson, but as someone from the older generation, he always took matters seriously and disapproved that his grandson had taken so much time off recently.

Wen Rugui pinched his lips shut a little and said, “I had been taking care of what I needed to. I won’t be taking any more time off in the near future."

Old Mr. Wen harrumphed. “You have taken care of the matters with regards to the Jiang’s, but what about your own matters?”

Wen Rugui was taken aback a little. “What matters?”

Old Mr. Wen didn’t even know where to start. “You did not report Jiang Huarong because of some war heroes’ children. You did it all for Young Grass. Now that you have put in so much effort in this, aren’t you going to let her know about it?”

Wen Rugui, “……”

Old Mr. Wen could tell what was on his mind right away. He was angry that his beard shook. “You really don’t plan on telling her about it?”

Wen Rugui agreed casually. “Mmhmm.”

“What ‘mmhmm’?” Old Mr. Wen was short of using profanity. “How are you ever going to land Young Grass at this rate?”

Wen Rugui lowered his eyes, which showed some  heaviness, and said in a serious tone, “Grandpa, I only helped her because it was the right thing to do.”

Smoke was about to come out of the top of Old Mr. Wen’s head. “Right thing to do my ***. You are obviously fond of Young Grass. Why else would you have taken so much time off work?”

Wen Rugui’s eyelids fluttered as he looked at Old Mr. Wen blankly.

There were a few seconds of silence in the living room.
