Chapter 382 - Looking at her lips, Wen Rugui felt like he was spellbound. (4)

After dropping off Tong Xuelu at her place, Wen Rugui returned to the military compound in the cold wind.

As Wen Rugui only had three days’ time off, Tong Xuelu thought about it some and decided to take a day off to spend with him.

Wen Rugui’s eyes sparkled when he looked at her after she told him that.

The next day came quickly.

Wen Rugui got up and bathed himself and washed his hair at the crack of dawn.

Old Mr. Wen and Uncle Zong knew what he was up to that day when they saw that.

Old Mr. Wen did not fuss about wanting to tag along. He did, however, have a request. “You must bring some home to share if Xuelu made anything tasty and not eat it all yourself!”

Wen Rugui, too, was quite worried that his grandpa would want to tag along. As such, he couldn’t agree to that condition any faster.

Even though Tong Xuelu had taken the day off but she still couldn’t be entirely hands off. She would still need to go shop for the ingredients.

She would, however, be able to take off after everything was in good orders after the shopping trip.

Meng Qingqing knew where she lived and, should anything happen at the shop, they would know where to find her.

Wen Rugui had already arrived at her place when Tong Xuelu got home.

For the sake of the two being able to have some alone time together, Tong Xuelu did not go pick up Tong Mianmian from next door.

Wen Rugui, upon realizing that there was just the two of them, blushed again.

Tong Xuelu said, “Oh right, I don’t think I have mentioned this before. I’ve entered into the culinary competition hosted by the Commerce Department. Our restaurant would be upgraded if I can win out. Do you know what’s the best thing if the restaurant gets upgraded?”

Looking at her lively eyes, Wen Rugui’s heart pounded. “You will get a raise?”

Tong Xuelu shook her head, “That is one of them but, the best thing would be that we will be able to have a phone installed at our shop.”

Wen Rugui’s eyes lit up. “That is truly awesome news.”

He would be able to call her whenever he wanted to hear her voice if there was a phone at her shop.

Tong Xuelu nodded, “As such, you are going to have to help me practice my cooking today.”

As confident as she was in her own cooking, there were many others out there who were also very skillful. She couldn’t be too arrogant.

If she failed to take first place this time, her credit in front of Minister Lin would hurt a lot.

That would put a dampen on her plan to run her own business in the future. She must win one way or another.

Wen Rugui nodded.

Truth was, he didn’t care what they were doing as long as they were around each other.

The two stayed inside the kitchen in the time that followed. Wen Rugui worked as her assistant, helping her with peeling and washing the pots and pans.

The two would occasionally come into contact with each other’s hand and body while working. All of those contacts made Wen Rugui blush.

After a long afternoon, Tong Xuelu’s wrists were tired and she planned to take a little break.

The sun was strong outside. Tong Xuelu moved a bamboo chair outdoor to dry her hair after she bathed.

“Rugui, come and dry my hair for me.”

Wen Rugui moved a chair next to her and started drying her hair.

Her hair was black, shiny, and smooth like silk.

Wen Rugui dried her hair gently and his heart felt fulfilled.

The fall sun casted warmly on them. Tong Xuelu, much like a cat napping under the sun, closed her eyes lazily.

Wen Rugui worried that she would catch a cold and he called out to her.

He did not get a response from her.

He walked over.

With the sun casted down on her, the fine hair on her face shined under the sun and her lips looked like she had lipstick on. Her long and thick eyelashes casted down two shadows on her cheeks.

Looking at her lips, Wen Rugui felt that he was spellbound.

He leaned into her slowly.
