Chapter 485 - The look on Wen Rugui made everyone laugh. (1)

Inside his room, Xiao Jiu brought over all the candies and cookies that he had been hiding and he was also holding something green in his hand.

Tong Mianmian stared at the item in his hand and asked curiously, “What is that?”

Xiao Jiu, “This is a metal frog. It was given to me by my grandpa. Here, you can have it.”

Tong Mianmian told him that she had never played with something like that before and had no idea what to do with it. Xiao Jiu got down onto the floor to show her.

He wound up the metal frog and it leaped up on its own. Tong Mianmian was so surprised that she didn’t even realized that her mouth had dropped open.

What an amazing green toy!

Xiao Jiu scooted over to watch the frog leapt with Tong Mianmian. “Do you like it, Big Sister Mianmian?”

Tong Mianmian nodded. “Yes, I do.”

Xiao Jiu, “Then you can have it.”

Tong Mianmian remembered how her Big Sister had told her to not take what belonged to others. She shook her chubby little hands and said, “No, I can’t take it. Big Sister will scold me.”

Xiao Jiu cocked his head and thought about it some. “Then you can just borrow it from me. You can give it back to me when you are tired of it.”

Tong Mianmian, too, cocked her head and thought about it. Her big, limpid eyes blinked and she said, “Okay, I’ll return it when I am done with it!”

The two exchanged a look and giggled as they talked, as though they had accomplished something amazing.

Tong Xuelu left with her siblings before lunch.

She visited Su Yueshen a few more times at the Su’s after that but never ran into him.

Su Yueshen had been very busy starting that year. He worked all hours of the day.

Tong Xuelu did not want to bother him at his workplace. Not only were there many people at the government agency, but Yan Yongan also worked there. She didn’t want him to be alarmed.

She had no choice but to ask Fang Wanyuan to keep an eye out on Yan Yongan and to have him notify her should anything happened.

The strange thing was that she heard nothing about Yan Yongan from that point forward. And along with him, nothing from Tong Zhenzhen either.

Tis was May and Tong Xuelu and Wen Rugui’s engagement ceremony was this weekend.

Old Mr. Wen was more exciting than the day when he got engaged. He had been dragging Uncle Zong along to buy new clothes and shoes since April. All in all, he wanted to have a whole new outfit.

Old Mr. Wen was a very simple person. Many of his clothing had patches on them. This time, however, he splurged for his grandson’s engagement.

Uncle Zong, too, bought a new set of clothes. In fact, he looked handsomer than Old Mr. Wen. That was Old Mr. Wen jealous.

Commander Xiao and the other Xiao family members arrived on Saturday. As there were too many of them, they had to stay in the hotel.

The thought that his granddaughter would be getting engaged the very next day displeased him. He had a long face and nobody dared get close to him.

Commander Xiao had two brothers and he was the middle one. Neither one of his brothers came but they all sent their sons or grandsons.

Xiao Yanghua, as the representative of his family, gave their gift to Tong Xuelu ahead of time. “It was inconvenient for us to come and we have no idea what you like. We decided on giving you money so you can go and buy what you like.”

Tong Xuelu saw the thick and heavy red envelope that seemed to have a lot of money inside and said, “Thank you, Uncle.”

Seeing how she had accepted the gift, Xiao Yanghua nodded and smiled, “That’s right. We are a family. You can accept our gifts.”

Xiao Weiguo looked at his cousin and looked stunned. “Second Grandpa mentioned that your cooking is amazing and that you’ve earned your role as the manager of a restaurant all by yourself. That’s so amazing!”

He had learned about his cousin’s accomplishment ahead of time. Now that he had met her and found out that she was not just a competent person but also very pretty, he was filled with pride.

Their generation lacked girls. All there was were boys and the elderlies had always felt regretful about that.

Out of the blue, the single Second Grandpa suddenly gained two precious granddaughters, both Xiao Weiguo’s grandpa and his Third Grandpa was very envious of that.

All of his other brothers had wanted to come as well. He was the one who got to come because he won in arm wrestling.
