Chapter 487 - The look on Wen Rugui made everyone laugh. (3)

“C’mon in.”

It would not be right to turn Xiao Chengping away when he was already at her door. Besides, Mother Xiao was the one with her face slapped, not Tong Xuelu. Tong Xuelu wasn’t upset at all.

Xiao Chengping ran into Fang Jingyuan the moment he walked inside Tong Xuelu’s house.

Fang Jingyuan’s eyes widened. “What are you doing here?”

Xiao Chengping looked back at her, “And what are you doing here?”

Fang Jingyuan said with a prideful look, “I’m bff with Xuelu. Of course I will be here at her engagement party. I remember you used to bully Xuelu and made her cry all the time. How do you have the face to show up here?”

Xiao Chengping, “What are you talking about? They two of you fought like chickens in a chicken ring in the past. If you aren’t too embarrassed to show up here, why should I?”

Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes, “You two can stop fighting. Both of you had bullied me in my childhood, alright?”

Fang Jingyuan, “……”

Xiao Chengping “……”

Tong Xuelu was just about to return to the kitchen and her cooking when Fang Jingyuan pulled her aside in a secretive manner.

“Xuelu, Tong Zhenzhen wanted me to pass on a message. I’m not sure if I should relay it to you.”

Tong Xuelu frowned a little. “What did she say?”

Fang Jingyuan said, “She said she wished for you two to live happily ever after and that you will live happily ever after.”

Tong Xuelu frowned deeply. “Those were her words?”

Fang Jingyuan nodded repeatedly. “Yes, verbatim! What do you think she’s up to? Was she being sincere?”

Tong Zhenzhen congratulating her sincerely?

Only when pigs can fly.

Tong Xuelu, “You didn’t tell anyone else about this, did you?”

Fang Jingyuan shook her head, “No, I didn’t tell anyone. I wasn’t even going to tell you. I worry that it would dampen your mood.”

Tong Xuelu blinked and said, “Don’t worry about it. I am fine. But don’t tell this to anyone else either.”

It did cross Tong Xuelu’s mind whether Tong Zhenzhen would show up today uninvited. But she figured that even though Tong Zhenzhen was not a smart one, Yan Yongan was no fool.

She hadn’t expected that Tong Zhenzhen could not help herself but to have someone relay a message.

But what did she mean by that?

She wished that they would live happily ever after and that they would live happily ever after?

Tong Xuelu had an odd feeling but she couldn’t quite sort that out.

Looking at all her guests who were laughing and chatting, she set her feeling aside and return to the kitchen to help out.

Dinner was done in the next half an hour.

The banquet was held in the backyard and there were three tablesful of guests.

Braised pork knuckles; stir-fried pork intestines; braised pork; braised chicken; corn, carrot and pork bone soup, plus three to four vegetable dishes.

Each of them was carefully crafted by Tong Xuelu. The aroma could be smelled by everyone as soon as they sat down.

Xiao Weiguo took a deep breath and said, “No wonder Second Grandpa raved about Xuelu’s cooking. You could just tell they are amazing just from the aroma alone!”

Commander Xiao said proudly, “Of course. Did you think I was lying? My granddaughter is the best chef in the entire country!”

Tong Xuelu’s lips twitched: You can be a little humbler, Grandpa. This is really unnecessary.

Old Mr. Wen loved bickering with Commander Xiao but this time he nodded after hearing Commander Xiao’s words. “Lao Xiao is right this time. For all the years I have been around, Xuelu’s cooking is certainly the best!”

Tong Mianmian, sitting at the other table, also sighed and said to Xiao Jiu, “I’ve been alive for almost 4 years. I feel that Big Sister’s cooking is the best.”

Xiao Jiu, too, nodded repeatedly. “I’ve been around for a little over 5 years. I also think that your sister’s cooking is the best!”

PUUFFF! HAHAHAH!

Everybody laughed out loud when they heard the kids’ talk.

The atmosphere in the yard was very cheerful.

Commander Xiao suddenly looked at Wen Rugui sternly and said, “Rugui, you better keep in mind that I will not allow you to mistreat Xuelu!”

Wen Rugui had yet to say anything when Old Mr. Wen interjected, “Don’t worry about it, Lao Xiao. I will be the first to break his legs if that happens!”

Wen Rugui, “……” That’s a scary thought.

Everybody busted out laughing again when they saw the look on Wen Rugui.
