It was very windy outside and, even though Ning Zhi couldn’t feel it, but she still knew that Lu Jue would be cold with just his red workout sweatshirt on.

He couldn’t feel it though. His face was pale and even his lips were pale from the cold.

Ning Zhi walked over. She touched his hand. It was icy cold.

Frowning, she said, “Lu Jue, it’s cold right now. You need to put more clothes on.”

Even if he couldn’t feel cold, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t get sick from it.

Lu Jue pinched his lips shut and reluctantly put on a red jacket.

Ning Zhi’s eyes curved and she said, “Xiao Juejue, good boy.”

The young man’s brows fluttered. Under his short, black hair, the tips of his ears started to turn red.

Arriving at the classroom, Ning Zhi noticed that the spot next to Lu Jue was still empty. She sat down in it.

Ning Zhi saw Huo Xiaoyue walking over in a delicate-looking lunch box shortly thereafter.

Ning Zhi recalled Li Li saying that Huo Xiaoyue had been bringing Lu Jue breakfast the entire time, even though Lu Jue wouldn’t eat any of it.

Ning Zhi must say she admired Huo Xiaoyue’s persistency.

Huo Xiaoyue, with the lunchbox in hand, walked around Lu Jue and was about to sit down in the spot next to him.

Lu Jue stopped her the very next second. “No sit. No sit you.”

Huo Xiaoyue was pleasantly surprised that he reacted to her this time. “Why can’t I sit here? The spot is empty.”

She showed him her lunchbox. “It’s my birthday today and I want to have breakfast with you.”

Lin Xi stood up and shielded Ning Zhi, not letting Huo Xiaoyue sit down. “No sit. No eat.”

Huo Xiaoyue stared at him, irritated. “You can’t even help fulfill such a small wish for me on my birthday?”

Lu Jue pinched his lips shut. He said nothing and didn’t look at her. As far as he was concerned, Huo Xiaoyue wasn’t there.

“You are such……” Huo Xiaoyue was so mad that she wanted to jump up and down but, knowing about his illness and that he was cold and distant from everyone, she calmed down.

“Fine, I won’t sit then. But you have to come to my birthday party after school to celebrate with me. I have already talked to Aunty Lu and she said that will be alright.”

Lu Jue said nothing.

“You must come.” Huo Xiaoyue looked at him a couple more times before she left with the lunchbox.

Ning Zhi remembered that Huo Xiaoyue had told her that she regretted making Lu Jue go to her birthday party that day.

It would appear that the accident was going to happen today.

Unfortunately, Huo Xiaoyue was drunk at the time and didn’t give her any details. She only said that she brought Lu Jue to her birthday party and, Li Li had talked her into doing something and her brother was hurt when saving Lu Jue.

Ning Zhi wondered whether the incident could be avoided if Lu Jue didn’t attend the birthday party?

Or that if she had gone with him but took him away with her, that could avoid the accident that followed as well?

She was a little curious as to what would happen today.

Ning Zhi started pondering. She looked at the scenery outside of the window in a daze. The cold wind blew past and brought with it a few wilted leaves.

She was looking at the scenery and Lu Jue, next to her, was looking at her.

When school was out, many classmates that were close to Huo Xiaoyue was invited to celebrate her birthday at her place.

Ning Zhi planned to take off with Lu Jue and not let him attend Huo Xiaoyue’s birthday party. Nevertheless, three tall boys walked over, surrounded Lu Jue, joked about going together, and half invited and half ushered him out with them.

Ning Zhi turned to glare at the person behind this whole thing.

Li Li, holding Huo Xiaoyue’s hand, said, “See? Lu Jue will go if there are others with him.”

Ning Zhi couldn’t show up right now so she couldn’t take Lu Jue with her. She had no choice but followed him to the birthday party.
