When the day was over, the sky darkened all of a sudden. Rain clouds rolled over, and the air was stuffy and humid.

It was about to rain.

Shen Shanshan turned down the umbrella from a male colleague and walked over to Lu Jue’s spot with interest.

She had been observing all afternoon long, and she noticed that Lu Jue, indeed, was very quiet. Er, not exactly. All afternoon, the only sound he made was when he grunted in acknowledgment to what Wei Xing said. Aside from that, he would quietly work on his research.

Lu Jue just walked out of the front door when it started to pour.

Ignoring the pouring rain, Lu Jue waited for Ning Zhi by the side of the road.

“Young Master Lu Jue, it’s raining right now. Why don’t we wait in the lobby?” Seeing that Lu Jue was standing in the rain, Wei Xing quickly ran over to the front desk, grabbed an umbrella there, and dashed back to where Lu Jue was.

Lu Jue didn’t say anything. He stood by the side of the road stubbornly. He wanted to see Ning Zhi right away.

Wei Xing understood Lu Jue’s character and did not keep on trying to convince him. As such, he patiently held the umbrella over Lu Jue, but the rain was coming down so hard that he still got wet.

After a long while, a black car pulled over to the front. Lu Jue’s eyes beamed as he walked toward it.

Ning Zhi opened the car door for Lu Jue.

Looking at Wei Xing who was mostly drenched, Ning Zhi said to him, “Assistant Wei, why don’t you jump in as well? We will give you a ride.”

“Don’t worry about me, Miss Ning.” Wei Xing quickly smiled and declined her offer.

“C’mon in. You got wet staying with Lu Jue. It’s raining so hard right now that it would be difficult for you to get a car.”

“Alright. Thank you so much, Young Master Lu Jue and Miss Ning.” Wei Xing did not insist on rejecting her kindness anymore and instead opened the passenger side door and got in.

Seeing that Lu Jue’s clothes were also wet, Ning Zhi quickly pulled out tissues to wipe him down. “You shouldn’t wait outside when it’s raining. There is no shelter on the street. You can wait for me in the lobby.”

Lu Jue just let her wipe the water away from his face as he looked at her quietly with his pitch-black eyes.

Ning Zhi pinched his cheeks and said, “Don’t come out in the rain next time, okay?”

He didn’t care about the rain, nor did he feel cold. But that did not mean that he wouldn’t get sick.

Lu Jue pinched his lips shut a little and slowly nodded to acknowledge her instructions.

Sitting in the front, Wei Xing was no longer surprised by the fact that Lu Jue was very obedient when it came to Ning Zhi.

The sky was dark, and the rain came down heavier. The car finally stopped in front of an alley.

“This is me. Thank you so much,” said Wei Xing as he opened the door.

Ning Zhi looked outside. There were no street lamps in the alley. It only had lights coming through the windows of the buildings. It was dim and not the best environment.

Wei Xing walked into the alley with the umbrella over his head.
