When Lu Jue and Ning Zhi returned home and Mother Lu saw the little boy with them, she was stunned, even though she had already heard about the incident from the bodyguard. 

“So this is the boy that you had saved, Xiao Jue?” Mother Lu did not object to Lu Jue bringing a child home. As far as she was concerned, she would support Lu Jue’s actions, whatever they may be. 

Arriving at an unfamiliar environment, Little Song Song clutched tightly onto Lu Jue’s clothes and followed closely next to him. 

“Come over to Aunty. Let Aunty take a look at you.” Mother Lu waved at Little Song Song. 

Little Song Song ignored her. 

Mother Lu reached her hand over, wanting to pat his head. The very next second, however, Little Song Song dodged her hand. 

Mother Lu was taken aback a little by the familiar reaction. It was very similar to how Lu Jue was when he was a child. Mother Lu looked at Little Song Song curiously and said tenderly, “Don’t worry. Aunty won’t hurt you.”

Little Song Song did not respond to her. He continued to follow Lu Jue closely. 

Mother Lu was not bothered by his actions. In fact, she had the domestic help go and prepare some snacks that little kids like. 

“Xiao Jue took Little Song Song to shop for clothes earlier?” Mother Lu had already heard about their day from the bodyguard.

“Yes, Madam. Young Master Lu Jue picked out the child’s clothes and shoes personally.”

Mother Lu was very delighted. 

She didn’t think that her son would pick the child’s clothes. It looked like her son was really fond of the child. “Aunty Hua, go and launder the new clothes. New clothes must be laundered before wearing. Since the child will need some clothes to wear for the night, fetch some of the clothes from when Lu Jue was young.”

“Okay. We have kept all of Young Master’s childhood clothes.” They would even launder and air-dry them from time to time. They were all very clean. Aunty Hua said, “I’ll go get them right now.”

Mother Lu nodded. She looked over to Little Song Song again. The child was too scrawny. He was going to need a lot of nourishment. She studied the child carefully and couldn’t share the feeling that the child looked familiar, as though she had seen him somewhere before. 

“The child’s mother was missing?” Mother Lu asked the bodyguard. 

“That’s correct. The cops are looking for her already. As for Song Dahai, he is not the child’s birth father. The cops already have evidence of Song Dahai abusing the child over a prolonged period. He would most likely be charged and put in jail.”

Mother Lu’s heart ached, thinking about how the young child was abandoned by his mother and then abused by his step-father. What a pitiful little thing. 

She sighed. “Let’s send some men to help the cops out, so we can locate the child’s mother sooner.”

That night, Aunty Hua pulled out a lot of Lu Jue’s childhood clothes for Little Song Song, and she laundered the new ones as Mother Lu instructed. 

Watching as Little Song Song put on Lu Jue’s childhood clothes, Ning Zhi felt that she could see a hint of Lu Jue on him. 

But Little Song Song was very skinny and had barely any meat on his fair cheeks. It pained people to see him that way. 

Meanwhile, Lu Jue, too, walked out in his red sleepwear. Both the man and the boy were in red sleepwear. 

Ning Zhi felt a sting in her eye. 

Since he was in an unfamiliar place and was not used to the guest bedroom that Mother Lu had arranged for him, Little Song Song did not want to stay there by himself. He came over, wanting to sleep with Lu Jue. 

Seeing that Lu Jue had walked out, he pitter-pattered over to him and hung onto his clothes. He noticed that his and Lu Jue’s clothes were very similar, making him very happy and his round, black eyes beam. 

He was as handsome as his Big Brother. 

Considering that there was an added Little Song Song in the room, Ning Zhi figured Lu Jue could sleep in bed with Little Song Song while she slept on the couch. 

Lu Jue, however, did not like that idea much. He insisted on sleeping with Ning Zhi. 

Standing in front of Ning Zhi, he looked at her with his pitch-black eyes. Lu Jue’s fringes were still somewhat moist, sticking to his forehead docilely. The way he looked softened Ning Zhi’s heart. 

She had already given in before he said anything else. 

Finally, all three of them squeezed into the same bed.
