Half the walls of the Ning’s study was windows. This was a special design that Father Ning had done for Ning Zhi in the past as Ning Zhi loved having the sun on her when she read in the wintertime.

There was also a large patio attached to the study covered in many green plants and all sorts of bright-colored flowers. Lu Jue’s bouquet of half-wilted red roses paled in front of them.

Ning Zhi placed the flowers inside a vase and brought out a book. Half-laying down in her chaise lounge, he said to Lu Jue, who was standing there, dazed, “I am going to read now. You are free to leave if you are bored.”

She wanted Lu Jue to back off on his own accord.

Lu Jue shook his head when he heard that. “Stay with Zhizhi.”

He moved a chair over and placed it next to Ning Zhi. He sat down on it. His waist was tall and straight. The bangs in front of his forehead draped down docilely and his cleared eyes and brows looked docile. “I won’t bother Zhizhi.”

Ning Zhi gave him a look and she noticed that Lu Jue had incredible patience toward her. “Up to you.”

The afternoon sun spilled inside the study through the slanted window and there was a sort of leisurely comfort.

Ning Zhi flipped through her book and Lu Jue remained extremely quiet. She glanced over at him out of the corners of her eyes and was immediately met with his eyes.

He looked at her, focused. His eyes were bright and brimmed with joy. It was as though he could never see enough of her.

The bases of Ning Zhi’s ears were a little hot. She couldn't help but scolded him. “Watch yourself. Stop staring at me.”

Lu Jue acknowledged her slowly. He gave Ning Zhi a quick look the next second, looked away, looked back at her again, and looked away again. Then, she couldn't help but returned to staring at her continuously.

Ning Zhi busted out laughing from annoyance. “Turn around. With you back to me.”

Feeling aggrieved, Lu Jue tightened his lips. But he followed Ning Zhi’s order anyway.

Rotating his little chair, he turned to face the door as he would still be able to see the beautiful scenery outside of the glass door and wall. He did not want to look at anything other than Zhizhi.

Lu Jue sat there, straight. After a long while, he turned to look at Ning Zhi again stealthily.

Ning Zhi busted out laughing from annoyance again. She had told him to look away. Yet he still turned his head and looked at her in a daze. He was so cute and comical at the same time.

Caught by Ning Zhi that he was looking at her, Lu Jue turned his head quickly. His straightened his back and put on a serious look.

Ning Zhi busted out laughing again from the way he acted.

After a long while, Lu Jue turned again stealthily. This time, however, a book in font of him blocked his sight.

Lu Jue blinked. He removed the book in front of him and looked at Ning Zhi, aggrieved. “Bad Zhizhi.”

Ning Zhi eyes curved. She suddenly realized how fun it was to bully Lu Jue.

She stood up, walked over to the desk, and casually picked up a red ribbon that was lying there.

Ning Zhi walked back over to Lu Jue and being mean and wanted to tease him, said, “Blindfold yourself.”

Lu Jue’s thin eyelids fluttered. “But I won’t be able to see Zhizhi with my eyes blindfolded.”

He did not want to be blindfolded.

“That’s exactly it. I don’t want you to keep staring at me.”

Lu Jue went silent for a little while before he started talking again. “I don’t know how. Zhizhi do it for me.”

Ning Zhi gave him a look and bent down. “Close your eyes.”

Lu Jue closed his eyes docilely.

Ning Zhi placed the red ribbon over Lu Jue’s eyes, pulled its two ends back over his ears, and knotted it at the back of his head.
