Chapter 102 - #The girl who had no idea that she had just traded herself in for a house.# (2)

On the couch, a drunk girl was all over another girl and they were giggling together.

In the middle of the room.

“Mr. Luo?”

“… …”

The smile on Luo Xiu lessened and he turned and looked next to him –

An actress on the team who could hold up a wine glass like she was on the cover on some magazine even at a small gather like this whose name he could not remember had been chatting him up for half of the night.

The culprit of this, however, was oblivious to it and was happily messing around with her good friend in a corner.

“What are you looking at, Mr. Luo?” The actress turned her head delicately with the most perfect smile. “You seem to be very into it.”

Luo Xiu’s eyes flickered some. “It is very dazzling, indeed.”

“?”

The actress was surprised. She didn’t think he’d so readily admit to that. She quickly searched for what he was looking at – there were a lot of people in that corner and the little screenwriter, who was usually languid looking, was smiling. Even her cat-like lips were curved upward and she was engaged in messing around with someone.

The actress turned back around in surprise. Her tone now complicated. “Mr. Luo is looking at Screenwriter Gu? I had never paid any attention before. She is quite a pretty girl.”

Luo Xiu nodded nonchalantly. “Indeed, she is.”

“That being said, with Mr. Luo’s qualifications, I trust that you are always surrounded by beautiful women,” said the actress with a smile. Leaning forward as though unintentionally, she blinked her semi-permanent eyelashes. “Or that Screenwriter Gu knows exactly how to appease Mr. Luo? She was the one who organized this birthday party after all. She is sure good at it.”

“She doesn’t need to appease me.”

“?”

Luo Xiu did not look up. His voice was cold and languid. “Perhaps I was the one who is fond of her.”

“--- ---?”

Gu Nian finally subdued the drunk Jiang Xiaoqing and struggled to pick up her cellphone which had been buzzing for a while now. On the screen was a number that was unfamiliar to her.

“Hello?” Gu Nian picked up her phone.

“Screenwriter Gu?”

“You are… ?”

“I am Zhu Hanyu! Mr. Luo’s assistant!”

“Oh.”

“Stop giving me ‘oh’. It’s 10 o'clock at night already! Where did you kidnap our boss to??”

Gu Nian pushed Jiang Xiaoqing, who was lunging at her, back down into the couch and said, “I’m so sorry. Is it 10 already? I lost track of time… The production team threw a birthday party for Mr. Luo Xiu. Everybody is having a lot of fun. So sorry.”

“Birth, birthday party?”

“Yeah.”

“Then.” After a few seconds of silence from the other end came a shivering voice, “Is the host still alive?”

“?” Gu Nian was baffled. “I am still very much alive. Thank you for asking.”

“You… you put this together?”

“Yeah.”

“Brother Luo didn’t say anything? And he went??”

“Yeah. What’s wrong?”

“… … … …”

Dead silence from the other end of the phone.

Gu Nian was just about to pull the phone away from her and check to make sure they were still connected when she heard a feeble voice, “Nothing. Good for you.”

Gu Nian, “?”

“I am begging you. Please let him go.”

Gu Nian, “??”

“If it wasn’t the stupid arrangement from the production team, our Brother Luo starts his meditation at 10 and get ready for bed. He rarely has a day off, how could you do that to him?”

Gu Nian was startled, “He didn’t tell me that.”

“Of course he wouldn’t tell you that!”

“Why wouldn’t he?”

“Because Brother Luo…”

The little assistant stopped himself just in time.

Cold sweat poured down from him: His mistake of blurting it out would have cost him his life.

After a peculiar silence, Gu Nian lowered her head and said, “Okay, I get it.”

The little assistant was startled. “What, what did you get?”

“Mr. Luo Xiu is…” Gu Nian looked up with her tear-filled eyes. “He must be so sweet that he couldn’t bare to disappoint me. Am I right?”

The little assistant, “… … … …”

The little assistant, “?”

Their Brother Luo, the one who could make an abyss punch its own eyes out should their eyes met or an evil dragon ran from him should they get into a battle – what did the word “sweet” have anything to do with him??

That was only because it was you!! If it was anyone else, they would have died 10,000 times already, alright?!

The little assistant, however did not have the chance to explain himself.

Gu Nian, who had been so touched, was already responding to him, “No wonder he didn’t seem all that happy tonight but still didn’t say anything to me. I get it. Don’t worry, Assistant Zhu, I promise I will have him back before 11!”

“… …”
