Luo Xiu lifted up his hand and rubbed the girl on her head. “It’s fine. I am fine now.”

It looked like Gu Nian wanted to avoid that but finally stopped herself. She stood there expressionlessly and let him touch her head. After Luo Xiu put his hand back down, she looked up and said to him in a very serious manner, “You can’t rub me on my head.”

“And why not?”

“That won’t be appropriate.”

Luo Xiu tried to stop himself but finally failed. He flexed his finger and knocked lightly on her forehead, both to express his discontent and also his helplessness. “You are two years younger than me. Why do you always have these crazy thoughts in your head… … What is so inappropriate about that, hmm?”

When Luo Xiu retracted his hand, he grabbed the girl’s wrist and walked her out of the bathroom.

Gu Nian, “Then we will go for a walk!”

It was obvious that Gu Nian was very insistent about it and Luo Xiu had no intention to go against her wish. He merely looked at the thin dress that she had on and her bare feet on the carpet.

A little while later, Luo Xiu returned to the porch with the black strappy sandals that he was finally able to local at a couple bizarre corners in the room and a casual jacket of his hanging from his arm.

Gu Nian was still standing at the same spot motionlessly, obviously waiting for his return.

Luo Xiu walked in front of her and stopped some 10 centimeters from her. Kneeling on his right knee, he placed the strappy sandals next to her feet.

Luo Xiu looked up, the corner of his eyes half curved and his brown eyes looking like a tender pond under the light, and asked, “Can you put them on yourself?”

“Mmhmm!” Gu Nian nodded.

Luo Xiu, “You can put your hand on my shoulder.”

“Okay!” Her alabaster hand placed on one of his shoulders as she bent over to try to put her sandals on.

Her soft, long hair dangled in front of his eyes along with a hint of floral scent. Luo Xiu’s eyes dimmed a little.

Looking at the girl with no sense of alarm, he chuckled dully. He then said in a low voice, “I know that you won’t remember any of this and most likely can’t understand me right now… … I want very much to do these affectionate acts for you but it’s not quite the time yet.”

“… …”

“I want to play it dirty but I am afraid to lose you.”

“… …”

Gu Nian struggled with it for quite a while before she was finally able to put both of her shoes on. She heard the last bit of very vague voice that seemed to have very deep and very complicated emotions hidden inside of them slipped into her ears.

But she only heard them vaguely.

Gu Nian stood back up, lowered her eyes some and looked at the man who was still half kneeling in front of her. Dazed, she asked, “What’s the matter, Luo Xiu?”

“Nothing.” Luo Xiu stood back up. His emotions tucked away and his brown eyes returned to their normal tenderness. “Shall we?”
