Sunrise always tended to be later in the mountains.

Just the first light at the horizon and before it was even able to spread on the cloak of the darkness from the night before, the town was already beginning to wake up.

The little assistant carried the breakfast from the cleanest restaurant in town and swiped open his boss’s room door with the backup key card.

The door opened up and he could see the blue and dark sky outside of the floor to ceiling window along with the first ray of sunlight in the sky.

In the corner next to the window, light from the floor lamp casted a long shadow of the man sitting in an armchair.

The little assistant stared stealthily at this fox demon who still hasn’t given up on his boss even after he was saw through her.

Hearing that, he hrumphed and said, “Brother Luo has a lot of these thermos, he won’t care….”

“Hanyu,” said Luo Xiu indifferently without so much as looking up.

Startled, the little assistant stopped talking immediately.

Gu Nian could sense that Luo Xiu seemed a little bit dispirited the way he talked tonight. She was a little baffled and she also noticed that the little assistant seemed to be a little bit… unfriendly toward her tonight?

“Boy… friend?” Repeated Luo Xiu.

It wasn’t every day that Luo Xiu was dazed.

“Yes!” The little assistant was very angry for his boss. “They had known each other for many years. They grew up together, in fact! They are about to get married soon!”

Luo Xiu recollected himself, lowered his eyes some and asked, “Who did you hear that from?”

“Gu Nian said it herself and I heard it with my own ears! She was on the phone with her boyfriend just a moment ago and I overheard it. She was all ‘dear’ and ‘I love you’. Yuck! It gave me goosebumps!”

“Mmhmm.”

“Pardon me.” Gu Nian nodded at the man as she pulled her phone out. “I need to take this.”

“Oh?”

The man followed a few steps after her.

Gu Nian turned her body and picked up the phone.

In came Lin Nantian’s shouting sound. “You called me and woke me up. Then you hung up on me before I could even get a word in?! Are you playing a game of truth or dare or something? You are a dead person if you say yes!”

Gu Nian, prepared for this, had her hand over the receiver on the phone.

After the shouting was over, she put on a tender and shy smile and said into the phone, “Hi, dear!”
