The Greatest Astrologist

This book is not "just another transmigration story" with the switched at birth trope. There's no sad, sad, sad beginning. The MC is not running away trying to avoid the original male lead or villain, or have any romantic relationships with them. The brother, that she was swapped with, is just a "victim" in the switch at birth trope and later on be exploited by the MC to leech money off of him. MC has good relationship with her birth parents. Brother also has good relationship with his adoptive parents.

The beginning of the book consists of light-hearted astrology stories at school, followed by a few "real-life" scenario arcs. Toward the last 30% of the book, there will be Indiana Jones' type of thriller/action/adventure/sci fi. (Don't even ask) The extras are back to fluffiness between MC and ML.

The MC is a self-proclaimed Marxism. She resented being referred to as a "fortuneteller" as she does not promote superstition. (Apparently, a no-no in China.) She refers to herself as an astrologist. The literal title of the book was Scientific Astrology, Materialistic Numerology*. MC claims that astrology is a very scientific discipline. Neither this translator nor the author claim that "fortunetelling/astrology" is real or believable, but this book does dive into different fortunetelling methods, just enough for the story to be interesting. This translator was not aware that there are so many different schools of thoughts prior to reading this book.

 *What you need to know:

  • This translator did not study Marxism so she is not familiar with it. Will do my best to translate it as literally as possible. Nor do I know anything about astrology, etc. for that matter. :)

  • "Materialism" here is not the definition as we understand it in normal life. It is its philosophical definition:-

the doctrine that nothing exists except matter and its movements and modifications.

  • Numerology, apparently, has nothing to do with mathematics. It is the pseudoscientific belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names, and ideas. It is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar to divinatory arts.

  • Don't feel bad if you didn't know any of those. I didn't know any of them before this book either. :)

  • If you have read this far, I hope you will continue reading and enjoy this book.
