“How come we still have so much fall outfits here?” Shu Yan had been busy lately and hadn’t been to the shop or the stockroom a lot. She had no idea that there were so many fall outfits still piled up in a corner.
“These were left from last month. We have them on display outside as well but they weren’t selling very well,” said Zhang Huaxiu.
Well, it’s already winter. Of course fall outfits weren’t moving.
Shu Yan frowned. “We should have done some promotional activities before we switch winter clothes. How come you didn’t mention it to me?”
Truth was, they did have some promotional activities before switching over to winter clothes. Shu Yan just thought that they had already gotten rid of most of the fall outfits. She had no idea there were still so much remaining.
Zhang Huaxiu paused for a little bit and said, “I figured we could sell them slowly over time. And, if we couldn’t we can bring them out again next year. We will stand to lose a lot of money by getting rid of them through promotional activities.”
Shu Yan put down the clothes, stood up, and stared at Zhang Huaxiu. She stared till Zhang Huaxiu lowered her eyes before she said nonchalantly, “What do you mean by ‘I figured’? I have been busy lately and delegated a lot of the work in the shop to you. But I need you to keep in mind that you are just an employee here; not the boss. Do you think you should have run it by me first before making a decision on your own?”
Shu Yan reflected on herself. Have she given Zhang Huaxiu too much power?
Zhang Huaxiu’s eyes reddened. “No, no. I know my place. That wasn’t what I was thinking. I just thought it we stand to lose a lot if we just get rid of them was all. I… I’m sorry! There won’t be a next time.”

Shu Yan closed the door behind her after she had walked out and did not let Yingying know that she had chastised Zhang Huaxiu. She needed to preserve Zhang Huaxiu’s esteem for her.
About ten minutes later, Zhang Huaxiu recollected herself and walked out. “Boss, about… those clothes?”
“Organize them with Yingying and inventory them. We will be putting out spring outfit soon. I’ll see if I can mix and match them with spring outfits and sell some of them. If not, we will keep them for promotions at the end of the year.” There must be huge sale when new year came around. They would be able to get rid of some of these clothes then.
They have inventoried all of the fall clothes, organized them, and stored them separately with a red note on top of them. That way they wouldn’t forget about them when they got busy later on.
Shu Yan picked up her kids, prepared dinner and, as usual, took the thermos to the little flowerbed. Other than dinner and fruits today, Shu Yan had also included a note inside, inviting Feng Zeyu to lunch tomorrow.
Feng Zeyu paused a little when he saw the note. He then folded it carefully and placed it inside his pants’ pocket.
