“Then we should have it transferred to us? It’s a great opportunity but how are you going to go merchandizing when you are pregnant?” said Chen Fei as he rubbed Zhang Huaxiu’s belly. Nothing is more important than her and the child.

Zhang Huaxiu smiled when she heard that. “I know. I know what I am doing. But I would like to opt for option #2.”

“Why is that?”

“Do you know much inventory we have right now? Over 60,000 yuan. That’s on top of the cost of switching to the new location and we will have to pay rent. It will cost at least 80,000 yuan all said and done. We have already borrowed money from your uncle when we bought this apartment and we are still paying him back. How are we going to come up with 80,000 yuan?”

When Zhang Huaxiu returned home from work that day, she looked troubled. Chen Fei asked immediately, “What is going on with your shop? Why are you moving across the street all of a sudden?”

“Our landlady saw how good our business is and wanted to take the shop back so she can run it herself. Shu Yan is part-owner of the storefront across the street and the other boss feels that the storefront was too small for their purpose and planned to move it over to City Nan Mall so Shu Yan is going to use that for her new shop.”

Shu Yan was still infuriated by the time she had returned to her shop. So unfortunate that both landlords that she ran into in City Nan were so shameless. They would at least be forthcoming about being envious of how well her shop was doing. What was this crap about their daughter’s future? The audacity! They really didn’t care how they came across.

Truth was, having this shop or not made no difference to Shu Yan. That did not, however, meant she was okay with their behavior.

“What did the landlady want to talk to you about, Boss Lady?” The girl couldn’t help but ask.

“Nothing important. Xiuxiu, can you come with me for a second?” Shu Yan took Xiuxiu to the storeroom and said to her in a low voice. “The landlady wanted to take the shop back because we are doing so well.”

What could it be that they couldn’t talk about outside? Did she want to raise the rent? It hadn’t even been a year yet. They had a contract that stated a rise of 15% a year.

The Landlady welcomed Shu Yan affectionately once they have stepped inside. She brought Shu Yan tea and fruits.

“Ah. That’s alright. I am quite busy, so…” Shu Yan felt that she should just go ahead with what she wanted to say.

“You know that I have a daughter, right? She didn’t study hard back in school and didn’t get into the university. Her dad and I pulled many strings in order to get her a job at the factory. Welp, you see, the factory went out of business. I figured there’s no reason for a girl her age to stay home and do nothing all day long so we want to help her open up her own shop. As such…” The landlady elbowed her husband.
