Shu Yan did not make a point of telling the children that she and Feng Zeyu were now a couple. It was somewhat awkward saying that to the children. She would tell them eventually and, perhaps, they would figure that out on their own over time.

Feng Zeyu brought over a bucket of water and watered the flowers and green onions planted by the children the previous day before he went back to prepare his breakfast.

“You haven’t had breakfast yet? Want to have it over at my place?” Feng Zeyu looked at the two children somewhat anxiously.

Shu Yan glanced over at the old lady standing by the door and shook her head with a smile. “No, it’s fine. We already have it prepared at home. JingJing, Tianbao, say bye-bye to Grandma and Uncle Fang.”

“Something’s the matter, Grandma?” Shu Yan noticed that the old lady just kept on staring at her but didn’t say anything.

“Oh, nothing. We will be neighbors from now on. C’mon by my place when you have time,” said the old lady kindly to Shu Yan.

“I will be sure to go over when I have time.” Shu Yan responded to the old lady and took off.

Shu Yan had no idea what the old lady’s thoughts are but Feng Zeyu’s thoughts was what was important. Never mind that the old lady wasn’t even his real grandmother; even if she was, Shu Yan still wouldn’t try to force herself to appease her if she was difficult to get along with.

After Feng Zeyu had returned home, he didn’t respond even after the old lady had called out to him a few times.

“What’s the matter? Didn’t you go and help the girl next door with her planting?” The old lady looked him up and down. Was he turned down by the girl? Oh no! Was he in shock?

She had heard of stories in the past that this person had killed himself after he was turned down by a woman.

“We’ve planted some green onions and some tomatoes. She has an apartment in Nanfu Mansion and would not be here very often.” Seeing the expression on the old lady, Feng Zeyu was happy. “She should she will give it a try with me. Grandma, she said she will be my girlfriend. Hehehe……”

Aunty did not return till 3 PM. The first thing she did when she walked inside was to see if there was anyone else there.

“What are you doing, Aunty?” asked Shu Yan, not know what to make of that.

Caught by Shu Yan, Aunty gave an awkward chuckle and said, “No, nothing. I went over to the market for some groceries after I have dropped off the kids.”

Shu Yan looked at her hands. She was empty-handed. What groceries?

“Oh, I ended up not buying anything because nothing looked all that fresh.” Aunty explained quickly.

Could she have come up with a worse excuse?

“Aunty, you are a part of the family so I will be honest with you. I am seeing Feng Zeyu, so don’t be too surprised if you see him over often.” Shu Yan gave Aunty a heads up.
