When she was done talking, Mu ZhenYu became quieter. The curve on his lips had disappeared gradually.

After a long while, he let out what sounded like a sigh. “If that is the case, if I repeat the experiment again with all five systems, would I arrive at the same result as yours?”

Xu WanZhi quickly avoided his eyes. She was being stupid. How could she had forgotten that he could easily do that?

Mu ZhenYu lifted up his hand and brushed away the hair that was in her eyes. “WanWan, it’s okay if you don’t want to say.”

There was disappointment in his eyes and a sense of loneliness that she couldn’t quite understand.

Xu WanZhi all of a sudden felt that her heart had opened up a crack and, in that small mysterious area, she was at loss.

Mu ZhenYu stopped the car, opened up the door, and paused for a few seconds.

Xu WanZhi looked at his back and really wanted to tell him the truth. But the words being at the tip of her tongue, she didn’t know how to articulate them.

Finally, she let out a sign, opened up her side of the car door as well, and followed him into the Mu’s.

It was already passed dinner time. The dishes on the dinner table had already been removed and replaced with snacks and fruits. Old Madam Mu, with her cellphone in her hand, was sharing the video clips sent over by her old friends. Mu XueLin was sitting across from her, reading the financial news. Wang LiZhen, sitting to his left, remained silent.

Mu ZhenYu changed out of his shoes and handed his suit jacket to the maid. Walking inside the dining room with Xu WanZhi in his hand, he said, “I apologize for being 10 minutes late. Sorry for the wait.”

“That is fine. There aren’t a lot going on after dinner anyway.” The old lady looked up at Mu ZhenYu. She immediately put down her cellphone and stood up after she spotted Xu WanZhi. “Oh mi, WanZhi came with you huh?”

Xu WanZhi bowed slightly and said in a low voice, “Grandma, Aunty.”

Mu Ig quickly pulled out the chair next to her. “Have a seat. Have a seat. Have some fruits. These grapes are grown by us. They are large and sweet.”

Mu XueLin looked up and looked at the women who were chitchatting in front of him gloomily. Then, looking over at Mu ZhenYu, he said, “What is it that you want to talk about in the middle of the night?”

“Don’t worry. Let me start from the beginning.” Mu ZhenYu pulled out a chair and sat down next to Xu WanZhi, placing his laptop on the table.

After the laptop was turned on, he worked on the touch pad and pulled up a photo. Then, turning the laptop around, he asked the old lady, “Do you still remember this man?”

“Hmmm? Who is he?” The old lady’s eyes were not as good as they were. She nudged Mu Ling with her elbow. Mu Ling, getting her meaning, stood up and went to get her bifocal lens from the living room. The old lady placed her glasses over her nose bridge with shaking hand and her face darkened immediately when she saw the man on the laptop.

Xu WanZhi didn’t know what was going on and also looked over at the laptop screen.

In the screen was a vicious-looking man with a long scar over his face spanning from the right corner of his eye all the way over to his left ear.

That was, indeed, a very horrifying look.

Xu WanZhi didn’t understand and looked over at Mu ZhenYu.

Mu ZhenYu merely raised his chin at Mu Ling and asked, “Aunty, do you still remember this man?”

Mu Ling gave the old lady a look and chuckled dryly. “It had been so many years already. Why are we bringing him up again?”

Mu ZhenYu set his laptop down neither too heavily nor too lightly in front of Mu XueLin and asked, “Do you remember this man? You have spoken with him before. I trust that you wouldn’t have forgotten about him?” His long and sender fingers drumming rhythmically on the keyboard. “What was it that you’ve said back then? ‘My son is right next to me. Don’t lie to me.’ Right?”
