Chapter 125 -  XingXing made a complain (3)

There wasn’t a big selection of sandals in the winter time. There were two different pairs to choose from. Cheng Huan picked the less ugly pair of the two, went home with it, opened up her shoe cabinet, and put it inside.

The shoe cabinet was almost full and most of them were her shoes. Cheng Huan organized it for a bit, cleared out a spot, and placed the two new pairs of slippers on the very bottom rack.

The bottom rack was designated for slippers; six pairs for the three of them. The pair next to Jiang MingYuan’s was XingXing’s. The two pairs, one large and one small, were of the same color and style. They looked like father-and-son style.

Cheng Huan scanned over them and she stopped midway as she was closing the door. She looked over to the other end.

Those were hers. The color was not the same as the other two pairs neither was the character on top of it.

Cheng Huan bought all the slippers herself and a person’s taste would not change over a short period of time. The three pairs of slippers were a family set. The characters on the top of the slippers were the three family members. They were bunny mother, bunny father, and little bunny.

Cheng Huan, “……”

She should have paid it more attention!

She regretted a little but was too lazy to make another trip in this cold weather. She figured it should be fine. It was just a pair of slippers after all. He probably wouldn’t overthink it.

Besides, he probably wouldn’t wear it very often anyway.

***

Cheng Huan was right about that, Jiang MingYuan didn’t have much chance to wear that pair of slippers. He was extremely busy the entire December and at most was able to come over for a couple of hours over the weekend. He barely had time to eat over there, let alone opportunity to change out of his clothes.

This weekend, the man had just got out of a meeting when he called up his chauffeur and headed over to Cheng Huan before he even had lunch.

He got there around 12:30 PM and the mother and son duo had just finished lunch. XingXing was playing with his Chinese linking rings and Cheng Huan was sitting cross legged watching a cooking show. Neither one of them were disturbing the other and the atmosphere was very harmonious.

The doorbell rang and Cheng Huan got up to answer the door. She wasn’t surprised at all when she saw who was outside of the door. “How come you are coming over at this hour? Have you had lunch yet?”

“No, not yet.” It seemed like Jiang MingYuan never wore anything other than suits. It was tiring just looking at him. He looked at the woman inside of the door and there were ripples in his eyes. “May I please have lunch here?”

Being busy for so long, the man looked like he had lost a lot of weight. As such, the outline of his face looked even more fierce and his aura was even more intimidating. Even as he was begging for food, he sounded like he was giving an order.

Cheng Huan used to be intimidated by his aura at the beginning as well. Now that she had been around him more, she no longer found him intimidating.

She pursed her lips and stepped aside. “C’mon in.”

XingXing had already noticed the noises coming from the door. He put his toy down and dragged his daddy over to play with him. Cheng Huan felt a hint of displeasure. She poked XingXing on his forehand and said “you little traitor” before she headed into the kitchen to prepare lunch.

There wasn’t much left over from lunch but the beef meant for dinner was almost ready.

There was still a little bit noodles left over from lunch so Cheng Huan pulled those out and made a bowl of noodles with some broth. She added some cabbage and mushrooms inside and scooped out a ladle of beef to layer on top of it.

The noodles that were pulled very thin soaked inside a light-yellow colored broth, adorned with cabbage and mushrooms. On one side of the bowl was a pile of pointy beef. The beef was cut into small stripes and had been stewed for three hours. Its taste was perfect.

The noodle took all 10 or so minutes to do before Cheng Huan carried it out and placed it on top of the dinner table. When she turned around to tell the man to come eat, she saw that Jiang MingYuan had already fallen asleep on the couch.
