Chapter 156 - “You just met him today?” (2)
XingXing was still busying himself when Jiang MingYuan was drinking his water. The little boy was smacking the sand with his hand and wanted to create an enclosure for the castle. He was so focused on it that he only took a quick look at his mother when she walked over and declined the water, stating that he wanted to finish up with the enclosure.
Cheng Huan worried that he would dehydrate so she squatted down and handed the cup with the straw over to him. XingXing cocked his head and immediately sucked down half a glass of water.
“Slow down. Don’t choke.”
XingXing must be really thirsty. Once he started, he couldn’t stop. Cheng Huan let him drank for a little while before she took the glass away and only let him have a little bit at a time.
When the entire glass was gone, XingXing burped and said, “Mommy, I am so full.”
“I told you not to drink so much,” said Cheng Huan and had him stood up for a little while.
The little kiddo was a bit hesitant. “But I am not done with my castle yet.”
“Fine, I’ll take over,” said Cheng Huan with a sigh. She pulled her son up and handed the glass over to him as she resorted to squatting down and started helping her son with the castle’s – wall.
She hasn’t been cooking at home for a while so her nails had grown longer and they were trimmed to a pretty curve along with some pink nail polish. Each time she grabbed a handful of sand, sand would get inside of her nails and that was very uncomfortable.
She squeezed the sand and slapped them onto the wall awkwardly. Sand were falling out in between her fingers. That gave her an odd and comfortable sensation.
Cheng Huan was much faster than XingXing at this and, before long, completed the wall.
The wall made by the fine sand was not equal in height or thickness. It looked crude but Cheng Huan didn’t care. She clapped her hands together and stood up. She rubbed XingXing’s stomach and, feeling that it had gone down already, suggested, “Let’s go get lunch. We can finish this later.”
Jiang MingYuan looked away from the wall and looked at his watch. “Okay, I’ve booked a restaurant.”
The restaurant wasn’t very far from the beach and their main attraction was seafood. It was lunch hour and the restaurant was extremely crowded. Jiang MingYuan walked inside, gave them his name, and the server brought them over to the table that they had reserved ahead of time.
The table that Jiang MingYuan booked was in a corner. A few plants separated the table from the rest of the restaurant, giving it an additional sense of privacy. The table was also next to the window. One could feel the sea breeze but was out of the sun. It was a very good spot.
The few of them sat down and the server brought over the menu. Majority of the items on the menu were made from seafood. They let XingXing order first and XingXing was, as usual, picking from the pictures. Anything that looked good he’d want.
“Okay, darling. We can’t eat that much.” Seeing that XingXing was going to go on and on, Cheng Huan quickly stopped him.
XingXing looked up at her and still remembered how he had taken more food than he could eat that morning and finally put down the menu. “Okay, I am done.”
“Good boy.” Cheng Huan took over the menu and removed a couple items that XingXing had ordered and added two vegetable dishes before she handed the menu over to Jiang MingYuan. “Would you like to add anything?”
“No, that is fine.” Jiang MingYuan gave the menu back to the server. “This is do.”
The server took the menu and told them their dishes would arrive soon. After she had walked away, XingXing started talking about his castle again. The mention of the castle would bring up Jiang MingYuan and, from his words, Jiang MingYuan sounded very mighty.
Jiang MingYuan just smiled and didn’t say anything. He only pinched XingXing on his cheek from time to time. XingXing would then turn his head and gave his father a goofy smile. After he was done smiling, he invited Cheng Huan to join his game. “Come play with us in the afternoon, Mommy.”
