Chapter 193 - His arms were pale; veins could be seen; he was very masculine. (3)

The two of them hadn’t seen each other in a few days. With the exception of receiving a bundle of flowers a day, Cheng Huan almost couldn’t tell the change in her relationship with Jiang MingYuan. Now that he was standing in front of her, the fact that she had been trying to overlook became obvious all of a sudden.

The person in front of her was no longer just XingXing’s dad, but also a suitor of hers. The thought of that made the air seemed thick and breathing felt difficult. She didn’t even know what to do with her arms and legs.

She had a eggroll wrap in her left hand and, with her right hand, she was placing the stuffing on top of it with a pair of chopsticks. As she wasn’t concentrating on what she was doing, the stuffing on top of it well exceeded the amount needed for spring rolls. In fact, part of it even fell onto the ground from the side of her palm.

Cheng Huan was pulled back from her random thoughts when the stuffing hit her slipper. She bit herself, slightly frustrated. She looked up and let out a sigh of relief when she saw that Jiang MingYuan was struggling to figure out how to roll the eggroll and didn’t pay her any attention before she proceeded to cleaning up the extra stuffing.

There weren’t a lot of them at home so Cheng Huan didn’t prepare too much stuffing. She only rolled a little over 10 eggrolls. The completed eggrolls were placed into a plate by Jiang MingYuan and ready to be fried in a little while.

She would be frying them in a skillet. She placed some oil into the skillet and placed the eggrolls in them once the oil was heated. All she needed to do was to fry them in low heat until they turned golden brown.

The eggroll coming out of the skillet were hot. Cheng Huan stacked the eggrolls up like a pyramid and there was an extra one left. She asked Jiang MingYuan if he wanted to just eat it.

Jiang MingYuan had never eaten in the kitchen before food was served. His first thought was to decline but he hesitated before he said anything. Frowning a little and hesitated some, he finally agreed despite the odd feeling.

“Okay.”

Cheng Huan, too, regretted after she had asked. She had always been doing that with XingXing so she just asked. She thought Jiang MingYuan would decline her but, for some inexplicable reason, he had agreed to it.

Hearing his response, Cheng Huan almost bit her own tongue. She oh’d a couple of times and held the extra eggroll up in a daze. She was about to bring it forward with one hand under it but recollected herself half way through. Laughing dryly, she handed the chopsticks to Jiang MingYuan and said, “Here.”

Jiang MingYuan was still frowning as he took the chopsticks from her stiffly. He reached over and picked up the eggroll.

He picked it up and, looking at the food item at the end of the chopstick, felt uncomfortable all over and just could not make himself put it inside of his mouth.

When his hand was stiff and he didn’t know what to do, XingXing’s voice came from behind them.

“Daddy, what are you eating?”

XingXing has a very good biological clock and would dress himself after he had woken up. He could smell the aroma of food when he opened up the room door and knew that Mommy was preparing breakfast for him. Eating was very important to the little kiddo so he ran to the kitchen first to see what was for breakfast before he even brushed his teeth.

Then he saw that Daddy and Mommy were eating behind his back!

XingXing was so mad. They didn’t even call him to eat with them. They must have forgotten about him! Arms akimbo, the little kiddo hrumphed and gave his father a vicious look. “I want some too!”

Jiang MingYuan was feeling uneasy all over and XingXing’s words had doubtless provided him with a way out. He let out a sigh of relief, turned the chopsticks over to XingXing and said, “Daddy’s not going to eat it. You can have it.”

XingXing was always hungry when he woke up in the morning and had already been salivating since he had smelled the food. He opened up his mouth and was about to bite into it before he recalled that he hasn’t brushed his teeth yet.

Mommy had said before that he could not eat before he brushed his teeth. He took a secret glance over at his mother and closed his mouth. He gave the eggroll a longing look before he said to Jiang MingYuan, “I haven’t brushed my teeth yet, Daddy. I will be right back!”

Lifting up his pants and sniffling his little nose, he turned to run toward the bathroom. His stubby little legs couldn’t move any faster and he had never been that eager to go brush his teeth.

“Okay.” Jiang MingYuan acknowledged XingXing softly and put that eggroll that had been passed around for a few times back into the plate, put down the chopsticks, and quickly walked out of the kitchen.

Translator’s note:

I don’t get it. What’s the big deal of eating in the kitchen? It’s not like eating in the bathroom. Even in the bathroom, providing that one is not “multitasking”, does it really matter? I don’t get why it’s such a struggle… >.<
