Cheng Huan was startled when Jiang MingYuan said they should go get their marriage certificate. Her first reaction was to turn him down. But when he said he was just joking, she felt a slight disappointment at the same time that she felt relieved.
Cheng Huan sighed about her own shamelessness. Taking a deep breath, she tried to suppress all of her crazy thoughts. Looking away, she asked when he was leaving.
“I am taking off now.” Jiang MingYuan wasn’t going to go into the office today. He needed to meet up with a customer today at 3 PM so he needed to leave soon.
“Okay, have a safe trip there,” said Cheng Huan as she got up to walk him out.
The elevator was stopped on the first floor and, while waiting for it to come up, Jiang MingYuan suddenly turned and asked, “What are your plans for the few days around New Year time?”
“Huh?” Cheng Huan peeled her eyes away from her cellphone screen, made a dubious noise, and said, “Nothing special. Just the usual, I guess.”
She didn’t have a lot of friends here and even original owner only has only her mother remaining as her only relative. She had, however, re-married years ago and the two had been out of touch a long time ago. Even if Cheng Huan had wanted to visit her, she wouldn’t know where to find her.
“Is that so?” Jiang MingYuan frowned and hesitated a little before he said to her, “I need to head home and worship my ancestors on New Year Eve and would like to bring XingXing with me to meet my father.”
“Is it far away?”
“Just two provinces away.”
“Oh,” said Cheng Huan. Then, after a little more thought, she nodded in agreement. “Of course. Take him with you.”
“What about you then?”
“What about me? I’ll just home by myself.” Cheng Huan was not disturbed by that.
Cheng Huan had been spending the New Year by herself since her grandfather had passed away in her previous life. She was already used to it and didn’t think there was anything wrong with it.
“Who stays home by themselves on New Year Eve?” Jiang MingYuan took a step back and away from the elevator. The elevator door that had been opening and closing finally closed all the way. Walking over to Cheng Huan, there was a hint of pleading in his voice as he said to her, “Why don’t you come home with me?”
Cheng Huan was standing in the corner and, now, with Jiang MingYuan standing in front of her, there wasn’t a lot of room left for her. Cheng Huan, with her back up against the wall and the man’s chest in front of her, looked down on the patten on his suit and said, “Me… that doesn’t seem right.”
“There no such thing as right or wrong. It’s just a matter of whether you want to or not,” said Jiang MingYuan as he reached out his hand, placed it on her shoulder, and get down to the crux of it, “I am sure XingXing doesn’t want to be away from you.”
“I……” Cheng Huan was speechless. The hand on her shoulder had put a lot of pressure on her and, giving him a quick glance and with her ears reddened, she said she would give it some thought.
“Alright.” Jiang MingYuan’s lips curved upward a little. He pulled his hand back, leaned into her ears and said, “I’ll be waiting for the good news.”
When he walked, the man’s breath hit her ear, making that patch warmer than normal. The redness in the ear extended all the way to her neck and almost seemingly heading toward her cheeks.
Cheng Huan only felt that that portion of her skin was about to burn up. She pulled her head back a little and looked up. With her hand over his chest, her eyelashes quivered and she said, “Hurry up and go. You are going to be late.”
Jiang MingYuan wasn’t upset that he was pushed away. Looking past her earlobe, the smile on him deepened. “Okay.” He said as he pressed the button for the elevator again. By time the time he had gotten downstairs and into his car, he called Qi Shan again and told him that he would be getting another percent raise on his year-end bonus.
Qi Shan, who had two raises over a very short period of time, “… … Thank you, Boss.”
