Chapter 227 - “He’s your child alright. He likes shrimp too.” (3)

He had only made out one word when the rest were swallowed. His hand, placed on the back of her head, made it impossible for her to avoid him. This kiss was much more ferocious than the one this afternoon. The man was very aggressive, as though he wanted to swallow her whole.

Her mouth was completely explored by the other person before she was let go of. The man’s breathing was a little heavy and his eyes particularly dark. He reached his hand out and wiped away the water mark on the lips in front of him. He pecked her again on her lips before he said goodbye to her again. “I’m heading back upstairs now.”

“Okay, go.” Cheng Huan was frazzled from his actions. She waved and, after a slight hesitation, still walked him to the elevator. The elevator’s door shut and block the man’s look.

Cheng Huan let out a sigh of relief and checked the temperature of her cheeks with the back of her hand. Returning to her room while biting onto her lower lip, she changed, crawled into bed, and covered herself up with the blanket from head to toe. After a little while, the blanket opened up a gap and a head popped out from inside of it. Cheng Huan took a deep breath of the fresh air outside, patted herself on her cheeks again and said, “Now go to bed.”

Having said that, she wrapped herself up with the blanket again. THIs time leaving her head out of it.

As much as she had a lot going through her mind, her quality of sleep that night was still pretty decent. It was just 6 AM when she woke up. She slowly got out of bed and prepared breakfast and Jiang MingYuan was already downstairs before she was done making breakfast. The two were touchy-feely again for a while. The man came to help her clean up after breakfast.

Their plan was to go back to Jiang MingYuan’s hometown for 3 days and 3 nights. They’d leave in the afternoon and return on the second. It wasn’t a long time and they didn’t need to pack too much with them. It was just that winter clothes took up a lot of space and they still ended up with two large suitcases.

After the packing had been done and Cheng Huan was carefully applying lotion all over her hands after she had washed them, she suddenly remembered to ask, “Oh, right, where will we be having New Year Eve’s dinner?”

The Jiang family is a big family and Father Jiang himself had four siblings. The generation above him had even more. Grandpa Jiang had eight siblings and each of them had many offspring. All in all, they had close to 100 relatives.

Jiang MingYuan’s grandfather passed away early. Father Jiang and his siblings were raised by Big Grandpa, who was uncle of Father Jiang. This Big Grandpa was already 95 this year. He was in relatively good health. Part of the purpose of the trip was to visit Jiang MingYuan’s grandfather and part was to visit this Big Grandpa.

Jiang MingYuan had fallen out with almost everyone on Grandpa Jiang’s branch but many of the ones from the side branches wanted to butter up to him and would fight over the opportunity to have him over for dinner.

That was in the past. This year he had a few others with him; it would not be a good idea to have dinner over at someone else’s house.

“I’ll go and reserve a table.”

“We can cook dinner ourselves.”

The two said at the same time and then both looked at each other. Cheng Huan smiled and waved her hands when she heard him say that. “What’s the fun to go eat New Year Eve dinner elsewhere? It’s way more fun to make it yourself. Didn’t you say there’s a kitchen inside of the mansion?”

“Yes…”

“Okay, then we will buy some food and cook ourselves. New Year should feel like tis New Year.” She remembered that she and her grandfather would prepare a lot of food for the New Year. They haven’t started preparing just yet but they couldn’t skim the New Year Eve dinner either. “We can buy after we’ve arrived at your home town?”

“Sure.”

“Then let’s cook ourselves. We don’t need to make too much with just the three of us. By the way, what kind of food do you like? Do you like shrimp?”

“Yes, I do.”

“That surely is genetics. Your son likes shrimp too.” Cheng Huan made a note on her cellphone and then asked him what type of shrimp did he like. Jiang MingYuan said any types were fine.

“We might not be able to get them now as it is so late in time. Personally, I like fresh water shrimp the best. They are the meatiest.”

“Then let’s get that.”

“That will depend. We may not be able to get them.”

“Sure we can,” said Jiang MingYuan softly. He walked outside and placed a phone call when Cheng Huan was contemplating about other dishes for New Year Eve.

“Go take a look and see if we have a complete set of cookware in the kitchen at home. If not, buy what it’s missing. And get some groceries, specifically fresh water shrimp. Fresh ones. Yes, have them air mail them over.”
