Chapter 261 - He needs to stop speculating and go talk to the person in question. (1)

His tone was so infectious that Cheng Huan became excited as well.

The man had already moved onto the number of pets they would have in their home. Cheng Huan, leaning against his chest and listening to him felt sleepy again. She yawned, squeezed out a couple drops of tears and was just about to close her eyes and sleep some more when she suddenly remembered the question that she wanted to ask the man yesterday when she was interrupted.

She was wide awake all of a sudden and she sat up straight.

“What’s the matter?” Jiang MingYuan was baffled. “Do you not like pets?”

Cheng Huan shook her head. “No, that’s not it.”

She turned toward the man and had a somewhat solemn look on her. Even Jiang MingYuan wiped away his relax look after seeing her expression. “What’s the matter?”

“You…” Cheng Huan hesitated, “Didn’t you ask me before how I learned how to cook?”

“Yes, and you said you were taught by your grandfather.” Naturally, Jiang MingYuan still remembered that. “Is your grandfather still around?”

Cheng Huan shook her head.

“Let’s go and pay our visit some time then.” Jiang MingYuan recalled that Cheng Huan did not visit her hometown over the new year time. “Any specific traditions at your hometown that we need to observe?”

“Nothing in particular.”

“That works.” Jiang MingYuan made the decision. “We will do that after I wrap up what are on my plates then.”

Cheng Huan felt that the conversation had gone an entirely different direction. She wanted to bring it back to what she had wanted to talk about, “But…”

“No ‘buts’. Sleep a little bit more with me.” The man, with his arm around her, pulled the blanket back over her and patted her on her back as though she was a child. His strength was just right, neither too heavy nor light. Cheng Huan, who was already sleepy, really fell asleep after a little while of being patted.

It was nice and bright when she woke up again and she was the only one in bed. Cheng Huan sat around in bed, dazed, for a little while before she got up to get dressed.

After a night had passed, the marks on her body were only more prominent. It reminded her once again of the madness the night before.

Cheng Huan took and look and forced herself to not dwell on that. She finished washing up and walked out of the bedroom.

As soon as she walked out, she could smell the aroma of food. XingXing’s voice, talking to Jiang MingYuan, could be heard coming from not too far away. He was asking when they could have breakfast.

“When Mommy wakes up.”

The little boy sniffed the air and gulped. “Then I will go wake her up now.”

Cheng Huan was baffled. She walked quickly to the living room. “There’s no need to wake me up.”

As soon as she started talking, both Jiang MingYuan and XingXing looked over at her. Meeting Jiang MingYuan’s eyes, Cheng Huan blushed and looked away. She walked over to the dinner table and rubbed XingXing on his head. “You little brat. Is Mommy not more important than food?”

The little kiddo chuckled. He wasn’t intimidated. “Mommy can always go back to sleep. But food will not be tasty when it’s cold.”

Cheng Huan, “Oh, you little know-it-all.”

“But of course!” The little kiddo looked very proud of himself. He thrusted his chest out, tugged her hand and urged, “Hurry up, Mommy.”

Cheng Huan was pulled over to the dinner table by him. Jiang MingYuan was sitting on her left-hand side. As soon as she was seated, the man grabbed her hand and rubbed and squeezed it. He had a serious look on him, nevertheless, “Let’s eat.”

Cheng Huan tried to take her hand back but failed. She turned and gave the man a stare but he just ignored her. He picked up a soup dumpling with his left hand and placed it on her plate in front of her. “Try it.”

The way she was sitting was very awkward.

Not being able to do anything about it, Cheng Huan focused on the food. There were a lot of varieties on the dinner table. They both looked and smelled good, probably would taste pretty good as well. The food was still steaming and looked like they had just been prepared.

“Did you buy these?” Cheng Huan asked Jiang MingYuan.

“I had someone made them.”
