Chapter 273 - "I want to see my son." (3)

Cheng Huan was alarmed, “Why do you want to see him?”

“What are you worried about? I am not going to fight over him with you.” Shen Xi tightened her lips a little and said in a dismissive way. “Do I need your permission to see my own son?”

“Legally, you are his aunt right now,” said Cheng Huan.

“Just tell me if you will or will not let me see him.” Shen Xi seemed a bit irritated. “He is my son. So what if I want to meet him?”

The two were still in a stalemate when a car stopped in front of them. The car door opened and Jiang MingYuan got out of it. Smiling at Cheng Huan, he turned around and carried XingXing out of the car.

“Why are you waiting out here? It’s windy at night.” Jiang MingYuan walked over and held her hand while giving her a disapproving look. “See? Your hands are icy cold.”

Having said that, he seemed to have just noticed Shen Xi standing next to them. He frowned a little and said, “Miss Shen.”

“Mr. Jiang.” Shen Xi, too, replied politely before she turned to look at XingXing.

Perhaps there had been some activities at the kindergarten. The little kiddo was dressed very properly. He had on a little white suit than made him seemed taller than he was. His little tummy was covered up and his hair had hair gel in them. He looked a lot like a little gentleman.

The little gentleman was whining coquettishly while holding onto his mother’s arm while trying to rub his hair-gel-covered hair onto his mother’s clothes. He didn’t give up even when he was pushed away but kept on trying to rub his head on her.

“They are very close with each other, aren’t they?” The voice interrupted her thought and Shen Xi looked up. She saw Jiang MingYuan looking at her. His eyes profound and he was difficult to read.

It had been years and Shen Xi had long forgotten what Jiang MingYuan looked like. She did, however, know of what kind of capital that he represented. Calming herself down, she said, “She is his mother. It’s okay normal that they are close.”

“Too bad that wasn’t the case the first few years,” said Jiang MingYuan suggestively. He then walked over and the three of them standing next to each other looked harmonious and heart-warming.

XingXing rubbed his hands in Cheng Huan’s palm and looked up happily. Noticing Shen Xi standing not too far away from them, he pulled behind his mother a little.

Cheng Huan blinked and pulled him out from behind her. She introduced Shen Xi to him. “This is your aunty, call her now.”

“Aunty,” said the little boy, his eyes clear and baffled. He seemed very curious about this new aunty. “Are you going to play with us, Aunty?”

Shen Xi still didn’t like this child. Even his voice annoyed her. Her eyes dodgy but finally accepted under Jiang MingYuan’s pressure. “Sure.”

“We have somewhere to be?” Standing to one side, Cheng Huan asked after Shen Xi had agreed.

Jiang MingYuan nodded but didn’t say anything. He opened up the car door and let Cheng Huan get inside. He then carried XingXing into the child’s seat. Turning toward the driver’s seat, he didn’t even so much as look at Shen Xi.

Shen Xi didn’t care about the man’s long face and got inside of the car. She tried to curve her lips as she looked at XingXing and force sort of a smile on herself.

They did not have a chauffeur today. Jiang MingYuan was the driver. The two in the front chatted intermittently as did the two in the backseat.

XingXing was very interested in this new aunt of his and yakked the entire time. Shen Xi, finding his annoying, did not pay him much attention. She finally couldn’t help herself but said, “How are you so noisy now?”

Her voice was a little mean and XingXing, startled, retracted his neck some and dare not say anything else.

The inside of the car quieted down immediately and, a few seconds later, the car pulled over to the side of the road. Jiang MingYuan’s seemingly very calm voice rang in the car, “If Miss Shen finds my son so annoying, you are free to get out of the car.”

Shen Xi had wanted to get closer to XingXing and figured she could stand to gain something from their relationship in the future but she had foiled that plan herself. Biting down her lip, she felt somewhat regretful. She wanted to apologize but wasn’t able to say a word under Jiang MingYuan’s gaze. She looked over at Cheng Huan and noticed that she wasn’t planning on smoothing things out for her either.

The car door opened up and Shen Xi got out awkwardly. Without the extra person inside the car, the atmosphere relaxed immediately.

Cheng Huan had no idea what to say.

Luckily XingXing wasn’t too bothered by that and returned to this lively self in a little bit. Without his aunty there, his parents wouldn’t mind him at all. He could say or ask anything that he wanted.

The car stopped in front of a building and Jiang MingYuan walked inside with the two of them.

This was a well-known restaurant in City S. Normally, one would need to make a reservation months ago and it was raved among foodies.

It was very quiet inside the restaurant. The inside was dim after they had stepped through the crystal front door. There were only dim lights on both sides of the little path in the middle. The grassy area on both side of the bath made out of crystals glistened under the light and led the path in front of them.

This was obviously not a regularly meal. Cheng Huan started thinking in her head whether today was a special day of some sort. She thought about it long and hard and finally said cautiously, “It is not my birthday today.”

“I know.” Jiang MingYuan walked forward with her hand in his. “We are just having dinner. Don’t overthink it.”
