“Kids like MingZhu with parents working in a different city and only able to see each other a few times a year are quite common. MingZhu is already a pretty lucky one among them. At least she is looked after by her uncle and aunty and they are somewhat nice to her.”

Li XinYun had talked a lot with Chen MingZhu when they shared a room. Inevitably, they talked about some local events. Children that were left behind created a lot of tragedies. Li XinYun, given the background that she had grown up in, had only seen the bright and pretty events in her past and the worst things that had happened to her all stemmed from Li WangJin and Li ShiZe. Comparing to all these other people, what she had gone through were nothing. It didn’t mean that she had already forgiven them, but that she was no longer bothered by the two of them.

By 9:30, the group of them went over to the address provide to them by Li DaiTong to look for Chen GenSheng’s previous boss.

Boss Wang was already waiting for them when they arrived along with the lawyer that helped with the contracts.

Fang JunRong, too, learned of the address of the house the night before. It was a 2-bedroom place and the monthly rental came out to be around 1,000 yuan or so. The company rented the place for 1,200 yuan a month. It was a supplement for Chen MingZhu in some sense. Renting to a company was much better than renting to an individual. Hearing sniffling noises, Fang JunRong turned and noticed that Li XinYun, too, was crying. She was a girl who cared a lot about her appearance. She insisted on reapplying her makeup even when they were on the train and made sure that she was presentable at all times. Her makeup that she had tried so hard to keep was all messed up from her crying.

Noticing the looking from Fang JunRong, Li XinYun wiped her tears with the back of her hand and walked over to a corner.

Fang JunRong followed her, handed her some wet napkins, and said in a gentle voice, “Here.”

“Mmm.” Li XinYun’s voice was very nasal. She looked defeated when she saw all the colors that came off on the wet napkin.

Fang JunRong patted her on her head.

The man rubbed his head and inhaled dramatically. “Let me think. I don’t remember anymore. Aye, I’ve been working so much overtime lately that my memory had been getting worse.”

“Can you tell me where my father work then?” asked Chen MingZhu. “I can go look for him there.”

She looked straight at him and her very defined eyes moistened. Her voice began to break. That was enough to make anyone’s heart ache.

“I, I haven’t seen him in over a year. I really miss him a lot. He said he will come to visit me and I had been waiting this entire time.”

Fang JunRong saw the wife turned her head with her eyes reddened. That was no normal reaction.

No way. If that was true, it would be too cruel for Chen MingZhu.

Chen MingZhu did not finish her bag of dried fruits. She put it away carefully after a few bites. Things this tasty should not be finished in one sitting. She would save some for her cousin. Her uncle’s family wasn’t exactly great to her but, after her mother passed away, they had raised her until now. She was very appreciative and, whenever she came by anything good, she would always think about saving some for her cousin.

Turning and looking out of the window, she had only seen buildings that tall in books and on the television in their neighbor’s house. Cars came and gone on the streets and the sun beat down on their bodies. There seemed to be a hint of gasoline smell in the wind.

So this is the city that her father lived in? It looked very pretty.

She didn’t even blink, for fear that she would miss even a little bit of the scenery.

As soon as the contract-signing was over, the group went first with Chen MingZhu to look for her father. Hmm, going by bus, of course.

The farthest place that Chen MingZhu had visited before today was a small county town next to her home town. It was her first time to a big city and she seemed very uncomfortable. She had a backpack with her and inside of it was a few changes of clothes. And then there was that urn that she had been carrying with her.

Li XinYun had been curious about it for a while now. She finally couldn't help but asked, “What is inside the urn?”

“Pickled vegetables. I made them myself and my dad loved it and would bring with him a few urn-full every year he visited. He said it tastes like home.”

“That is not true. My dad is not that kind of a person. I have trust in him.” Chen MingZhu’s lips were tightened, her chin tensed, and she looked wronged.

Fang JunRong said, “Right. I trust that he must have his reasons as well. Those who had never met him had no rights to opine on this.”

The woman had a disapproval look on her but she had just eaten the snacks paid for my Fang JunRong and Fang Tian so she did not rebut like she did earlier. She opened up a bag of peanuts and dived into it. She would eat one and peel one for her son.

Fang JunRong felt that this girl was quite brave. Taking the train on her own and going to an unfamiliar place to look for her father. That being said, considering that her father hadn’t been home for over a year and she didn’t even get to see him over the New Year, it’d make sense why she was nervous. But a decent look and fragile girl being alone in a city could be very dangerous. She might be kidnapped if she wasn’t careful. Her family would be very sad then.

If that was not double standard that she didn’t know what was! She could beat a child but nobody could beat hers. Her child could bully others but others could not resist. The entire world revolves around this mother and son.

She asked a few more questions after that and clearly recorded her answers. She would also interview the bear child occasionally.

All in all, the behaviors of this mother and child were shocking. She could very well submit this to “the mysterious human behaviors”.

The train attendant came over at this point wit their cart and asked if anyone wanted any snacks. Fang JunRong, in light that Fang Tian’s interview had somewhat disturbed the others, purchased all of the snacks for the others around them.

The girl was a little surprised. “Oh, sure.” She then asked softly, “Are you sure about it though?”

Her tapering face looked baffled; obviously confused why Fang Tian would want that. Anyone with half a brain could see that the woman next to her was not a good person and her boy was even more of a trouble-maker.

Fang Tian’s eyes flickered and her smile became even sweeter. “It’s alright. I am very curious about her thought on child-rearing and would love to have a chat with her.”

She waved the cellphone in her hand at her.

Fang JunRong had an idea of what the brat was trying to do but had no intention of interfering.

The girl finally switched seats with Fang Tian.

A look of disgust appeared on Fang JunRong. In business, she could take on groups and crowds when it came to verbal exchanges. She would, however, be the first to admit that she did not know what to do with a shrew. Surely, the woman had said some awful things and not exactly a decent person but she didn’t exact break the law. She couldn’t possibly stoop down to a shrew’s level and started screaming. If she was too subtle, the meaning just might get lost. In the end, it was all but a big waste of her time.

The woman gritted her teeth in anger. “How I teach my boy is none of your business. My Bao is still young and isn’t it normal that he had no idea what he is doing? He will learn as he grows up. Why are you so petty with a child?”

That was why it was said that all “bear children” (naughty children) came with “bear parents”. And all of these parents’ favorite excuse to everything was “the child is still young”! And using their age as a crux while forcing everyone else to work around them. ‘

“Just who the heck are you? Mind your own business!” The woman turned to look at Fang JunRong and her attention was attracted by the bright green around her wrist. She couldn’t tell the brand of Fang JunRong’s clothes but she could tell that Fang JunRong was no ordinary people from her aura. Immediately, her tone softened a little. “I am just teaching this thief a lesson. She is too young to be a thief. She needs to be taught a lesson now or she would only get worse when she grows up.”

The more she talked, the more justifiable the woman felt about herself. “I am merely teaching her a lesson for her parents!”

Li XinYun had woken up some time during the incident. Looking at the pitiful look on the girl, she felt bad for her and chimed in. “You have no evidence that she took it, do you? Even if you want to search her, you can’t just do it here.” Trying to grab someone’s clothes in public. That was for sure crossing the line.

Seeing that, Fang Tian turned to the children’s parents and said to them, “You should watch your children and not let them run around like mad.”

The parents, who were chatting amongst each other, said disapprovingly, “All kids like to run around. What’s the big deal? Why are you being so hateful toward little kids, child?”

Fang Tian raised her brows, smiled, and said, “I’m streaming right now. Watch your kids or I am going to let the whole country admire their running around and also show them what kind of parents you are.”

The parents looked at her cellphone and their faces stiffened a little. They then shouted for their children to return to their seat disgruntledly. The woman in red even smacked her child on the back of his hand as she shouted, “I told you not to run around. You are making me look bad.”

Fang JunRong chuckled at her comment and tapped her on her head, “But are you sure you wanted to take the train?”

Their original plan was to take the plane. It would be more relaxing that way. But Fang Tian expressed that she had never ridden the train before and that she would like to experience it. Fang JunRong thought about it some. All the students had already gone home and the peak time was over. It shouldn’t be too crowded on the train and, as such, she had agreed to it.

Fang Tian nodded and her eyes beamed. “My classmate told me about the train and I had been curious about it. I am going to stream from it as well.”

Each word and sentence from the lawyer was like dagger of ice and each and every single one of them plunged at Zhang Kaiyu’s chest. His ears rang and he felt blood in his mouth before he noticed that he had bitten down so hard on his lip that he had broken his skin.

Oh, how familiar were the lawyer’s words!

From his own memories, had had said all those things before in the past. When he spoke those words, he was standing high up with his hands crossed behind his back. He was like the god within his clan and could decide on another’s fate with merely a few words.

Fang JunRong frowned slightly. Many had sent her precious gifts in the last few days, under the pretense of XinYun’s birthday. That must be a joke. XinYun’s birthday was not for another two months. Nobody would send in gifts so far in advance.

Bai Shiyuan’s maiden family sent her a set of topaz jadeite head set, worth over 10 million yuan. Her husband’s family sent over a raw gem. A jadeite of the ice type as well. She decided to just call up Sun Mei and find out.

Perhaps because she was able to see her own future clearly, for the sake of saving her son, Su QinMei, who was successfully brought into the ditch by Jiang WenYu, gave all the details of how she had murdered her own sister, all the while sparing no details on Zhang Kaiyu’s participation. In addition, she even gave away the location of the Zhang family’s real accounting books while she was at it.

Being a murder accomplice, forging fake documents, plus tax evasion, even if there weren’t enough evidences to charge Zhang Kaiyu on the murder of Su QinYing, just the two other convictions were enough to put him away for many years.

Zhang Kaiyu, who was resting, was woken up again. He had slept less than 3 hours the last two days. Even a young person might not be able to handle that, let alone him.

It didn’t make sense that cops would come to their door when all Bi did was plagiarized some thesis.

He added impatiently, “Have them take him with them. You didn’t need to wake me for that.”

Su QinMei was probably the one who knew about her father-in-law’s dirty behind-the-scene ways the most. After all, he had been friendly toward Su QinYing up front but was able to watch her die without so much as a blink of his eyes and watched as his own grandson was kidnapped.

When she tried to poison Jiang WenYu a year ago, he, too, was able to help with cleaning up all of the evidences as if nothing was wrong. Only because her son seemed the more promising of the two a year ago. Just thinking about the kind of revenge that an old man who could sacrifice his own grandson and his daughter-in-law with no hesitation would exert made her chilled to her bones.

She recovered suddenly from her state of confusion and turned pale.

Before she was even done talking, Jiang WenYu had already swung his palm at her to slap her. He was not one to hit a woman but Su QinMei’s behavior had already disqualified her as a human.

The pain coming from her cheek stunned Su QinMei. Her eyes widened and her chest heaved from anger. She said through gritted teeth. “You hit me! How dare you hit me!”

As soon as she finished saying that, Jiang WenYu slapped her again. He hit her on her left cheek earlier and now it was her right.

“Pardon me. I have OCD. Looks more even now.”

He was angry to a point that he actually started calming down. “So you are brain dead. Did you really think that the entire world is as stupid as you are?”

His lips curving up slightly, he had a mocking look on him.

The Zhang and the Su families probably knew it all along. They just played along and kept it on the downlow. Afterall, cheating with one’s sister-in-law was a big scandal and would ruin the reputations of both families should words get out. On top of that, a dead person was not able to defend themselves so his mother was replaced just like that. There was even someone else’s name on her gravestone and the culprit had taken over her identity and enjoyed everything that was rightfully hers. And he was kidnapped at a young age.

From his memory, the couple who raised him had been very nice to him at the beginning. All the way until they had their own children and he had become a sore thorn in their eyes. His days had become progressively more difficult from that point forward.
