Dong Mingming did not feel well after hearing what Gu Xi had said.

–– Wait, what? Gu Xi was bet… bet… betting on Sheng Xiuyan??

Nevermind that she was betting on him; and she placed so much bet on him.

Did that mean Gu Xi was not confident in herself??

Thinking of that, Dong Mingming suddenly let out and loud and desperate groan. “I am done for……”

She had wagered five 5.3 and one Top Students. If she lost, applying the current payout of 1.2x, she would “receive” five 5.3 and five Complete Solutions, and two Top Students!

Per the rules, she would need to complete all of them within one semester. There was no way she could complete them all in the amount of time allotted, not even to save her own life!

Looking at Gu Xi, Dong Mingming finally turned away in despair.

Gu Xi find Dong Mingming’s reactions comical.

She didn’t know what Dong Mingming reacted the way she did earlier, but she had since figured it out from what she was grumbling about.

Then again, Dong Mingming thought about it some more and added, “Never mind, I will help you with one. Okay, maybe two. But, I am going to tell you right now that I will only take the English ones. No 5.3.” Those were insane.

Looking at Dong Mingming’s solemn and serious look, Gu Shao felt comical and touched at the same time. What she really wanted to say was, it would be alright. She wouldn’t need any help with those. Really.

But, if Dong Mingming really want to share the joy, Gu Xi wouldn’t mind sharing a couple with her after she had won.

Gu Xi was quite confident in herself about the examinations next week. That being said, she still started spending more time on studying.

Luckily, their project for the Tiancheong Competition had already entered into the technical design stage and was mostly done by [Lin]. As for the SL Youth Innovation Competition, it would be another week or two before they would hear anything back. As such, Gu Xi had plenty of time recently to focus on her monthly examinations.

Seeing how focused Gu Xi was in her studying, Dong Mingming, as her deskmate, felt very reassured. She had already given up hope previously and was already thinking about how she would be able to complete 10 exercise books. She started feeling better all over again.

“Gu Xi.”

“Hmm?”

“Good luck!” said Dong Mingming to Gu Xi. What she was thinking was, Gu Xi had wagered on Sheng Xiuyan. If Gu Xi lost, perhaps she could help her with a couple more exercise books.

Glancing over in Sheng Xiuyan’s direction, Dong Mingming said to Gu Xi seriously, “But don’t get careless now!”

As Sheng Xiuyan, too, had started focusing on his studying as well.

Over the last few days, not only was Gu Xi focused on school work, even Sheng Xiuyan, who almost never attended morning classes, had been coming to school on time and paying attention in class.

These two’s attitude made the entire class more serious about preparing for the upcoming examinations.

Naturally, more and more people wagered and more and more excited everyone was getting.

It was finally the HSAU’s monthly examinations time amidst the exciting tension.

Gu Xi was quite calm on the day of. Dong Mingming, on the other hand, was way more nervous than her.

“Oh, right. Did you bring with you pencils, ruler, erasers?”

Gu Xi nodded. She was just about to say “yes”, when Dong Mingming pulled out a bag of stationaries and handed it over to her. “I had two sets prepared. This set is for you.”

Gu Xi wasn’t sure what to make of that. “I brought my own.”

“It’s fine. You can have too many of them!” Pausing, Dong Mingming pointed at a small piece of red cloth on the outside of the stationary bag and a yellow cloth charm on the zipper and said, “I got this one specifically for you online. It was consecrated at the Temple of Confucius for good grades. Then there is this one. This one I got from the Shaolin Temple online, consecrated by the abbot himself for ‘smooth sailing’. Both are very effective. For certain you will take #1 place having both of these on you.”

Gu Xi’s deskmate had done everything that she could within her power to make sure that Gu Xi could take the #1 spot.

Gu Xi’s lips twitched as she listened to Dong Mingming. But, the concerned look on Dong Mingming convinced Gu Xi to not tell her that the red cloth that was allegedly consecrated was probably faked. And whether the charm was consecrated was very questionable.

“Alright, alright. I will do my best.” Gu Xi took the “consecrated” stationary bag from Dong Mingming, patted her on her shoulder, and said, “It’s almost time. Go to your seat now. Good luck to you too.”
