Chapter 63 - Where Were You On Audition Day? (3)

Inside the spacious room sat many judges.

Chi Ying bowed and handed her resume over to them.

All the judges talked among each other. The girl on the document and in the picture looked pure and warm and has a big, bright smile. She seemed to have nothing to do with the pessimistic and depressed second female lead in the script.

Yet, when they looked up and studied Chi Ying close up, they couldn’t help but let out a cry of surprise.

Her perfect makeup made her looked pale and disheveled, overlapping her with the character of the character in the script.

She was the kind of actresses who has a wide range of roles. Her features were delicate and flawless and her temperament could be altered through makeup.

Chi Ying quickly got into the role.

If Qi HongCheng was still holding out one last hope before, they were all crushed by now.

The woman was pale and lanky, her eyes were limpid, as though there were tears inside of them.

Her eye sockets were slightly reddened and looked like she was about to start crying at any given minute and very touching to those who looked at her.

She was completely different than the confident and relaxed person who had just introduced herself. While in her role, every movement of hers appeared to be helpless and intimidated.

As the script went on, the tears that had been pooling around in her eyes suddenly all rolled down her cheeks. Drop after drop, they looked very startling.

Many exclamations could be heard from around them.

Qi HongCheng had mixed feelings. Annoyed, he smacked himself on his thigh.

Staring at the pale Chi Ying in the audition room, Lu JingYan felt that his heart was being pounded by boulders.

Blood rushed from his lips and he broke out in cold sweat.

It felt exactly the same as when he experienced night paralysis.

Lu JingYan has always been healthy and strong. Even when work was very busy, he never neglected to work out.

His turned purple for a quick second. His lips were tightly shut, making Jiang Chong not knowing what to do for a brief second there.

After a long while, Jiang Chong finally asked, “Boss Lu… are you alright?”

“Yeah, I am alright.” His voice was hoarse.

After Chi Ying had left, Qi HongCheng collapsed onto his chair inside his office.

His mind went blank and Lu JingYan’s call followed immediately.

“Boss Lu…” Cold sweats broke out on him. “The audition was over and we are finishing up our final evaluation.”

He was still very hesitant.

But he was starting to lean toward Chi Ying.

Lu JingYan’s voice was very deep, “You are hesitating?”

Qi HongCheng remained silent and dared not make a sound.

“You don’t need to do it for me.” Lu JingYan’s voice was cold and distant. “As a director, you should know better than me the importance of picking the right actors and actresses for the roles.”

Many things were going through Qi HongCheng’s mind.

Lu JingYan was a capitalist. He made only rational decisions and very rarely make any mistakes.

Ever since the very beginning, it didn’t sound like Lu JingYan was very close to Chi Ying.

Qi HongCheng remembered their call a few days ago. Lu JingYan’s voice was cold. He casually brought up having Chi Ying come for the audition but never expressed that he wanted Chi Ying to get the role.

Qi HongCheng was never a determined person.

He was wavering again.

“Boss Lu, what you mean is… if there’s someone who is more suitable than Chi Ying…”

Lu JingYan said in a deep voice, “I invest for profits. Successfully identifying the right people for the roles is a key factor to success. Besides, rushing a person into a role that they are not ready for, do you think it is doing them a favor?”

Putting a person whose ability couldn’t handle a role that would receive a lot of attention, would that be a success or a destruction for that person?

After all sorts of considerations, Qi HongCheng finally decided to give the role of second female lead to Chi Ying.

Her acting skill was, doubtless, more stunning than Shu Bai’s.

He would try to compensate Shu Bai in a different way.

Perhaps with capital.
