Qi HongCheng was drafting the email on the outcome of the audition when Liu Pei asked to meet up with him.
When he heard that, he felt his blood boiling. She had the audacity to ask for a meeting with him?
Unfortunately, Liu Pei had Qi HongCheng wrapped around her little finger. He was like a puppet with no control of his own self as he walked toward the meeting location.
He justified his actions by telling himself that he’d use this opportunity to talk to her about what had happened.
When she saw her, Liu Pei was scantily dressed with dark red lipsticks.

“You…” Qi HongCheng felt a stuffed up feeling in his chest.
Liu Pei lied casually, “Shu Bai’s parents died, just yesterday.”
Immediately after she said that, she handed over a picture of Shu Bai bawling her eyes out.
Inside the picture, Shu Bai was curled up in a corner and her eyes were aimless.
“Don’t let her down now. She has kept herself pure all these years before she gave it all to you,” said Liu Pei nonchalantly. “She has debts from her parents that she needed to pay off. She truly has nobody else to rely on now. I shouldn’t need to tell you how much she needs this role. It has been days and you still haven’t given her a definite answer. You wouldn’t want to read the news of an 18th-tier actress jumping off of a building now, would you?”
“You are a part of this,” said Qi HongCheng. His heart arched horribly and his fingers shaking. “How you have disappointed me.”
Qi HongCheng drank a lot again.
He did not black out; he just wanted to numb himself with alcohol.
It didn’t work. His heart still ached every time he thought about Shu Yan crying.
Qi HongCheng was at loss when he picked up the call from Lu JingYan.
Lu JingYan’s voice was hoarse. “You’ve made your decision?”
Qi HongCheng calmed his voice as best he could and said, “Yes, I have.”
“I felt that Shu Bai is a better person for this role. Chi Ying looks too stunning and doesn’t really fit the image that we want for the second female lead. I will forward you their CVs in a little bit.”
Lu JingYan’s eyes turned cold.
Had he not seen Chi Ying’s makeup that day, Qi HongCheng’s words would have been a lot more convincing.
Chi Ying’s beauty was too ostentatious. Many experienced directors would not consider her as a good second female lead.
Except that she was pale and disheveled that day and that really made his heart ached.

Chi Ying received the call for a second audition quickly.
Except it wasn’t Qi HongCheng who contacted her this time; it was the boss of Peiyu Television Media Company.
“Same subject as last time. Just act like you normally would.” He said in the phone.
Chi Ying arrived at the conference room at Peiyu’s headquarter at the designated time.
All of the upper management were dressed in suit and sat there solemnly. Even the air seemed to be heavy inside of the room.
A second audition for the role of second female lead brought about so many from the upper management was quite intimidating.
She looked over to one side and saw Qi HongCheng sitting the corner expressionlessly.
Shu Bai was the other one there. She stood not too far away and her hands were loosely formed into fists. Her face was pale like paper.
Shu Bai had no idea that Chi Ying had already passed Gu YuanChen’s audition or the deal between Lu JingYan and Qi HongCheng.
But the more confident and relax Chi Ying was, the more terrified and intimidated she was.
She didn’t see school sister Chi Ying on the day of the audition.
