Running a fever really wasn’t something serious but his temperature was already quite high. It could conceivably become serious if he didn’t have medications and/or IV in time. She recalled how he looked pale in the day time and wondered if he had other illness that she was not aware of.

Chi Ying thought about it for a little bit before she decided to give Jiang Chong a call. He would know what to do or where medicines were kept.

She had already taken the liberty to touch Lu JingYan’s body, took the liberty to searched through his private plane, and now she was even going to take the liberty to use his cellphone… well, she figured that this last one should count as doing a good deed, so she might as well go all the way.

Chi Ying carefully retrieved his cellphone from under his documents. It was obvious that its owner had been careful with it and the screen was flawless with no visible scratches.

She hit the power button and the screen came on. There was a text from Director Gu on his locked screen. The alias that Lu JingYan had assigned to him, to her surprise, was “YuanChen”.

Director Gu said, “Ok. Got it.”

As for unlocking the screen, she was going to need a code…

She really shouldn’t try randomly.

After a few failures, Chi Ying had no idea where her confident or her courage came from, but she tried a set of 8 numbers.

She quickly opened up his contact list and searched for Jiang Chong’s name using pinyin and gave him a call.

Answering the call was Jiang Chong’s very respectful voice. “Boss Lu.”

Chi Ying went silent for a second and said, “Executive Assistant Jiang. This is Chi Ying.”

“Miss Chi? You are with Boss Lu?” Jiang Chong was surprised for a little while. Boss Lu did mention to him that he was stuck in the rain and would be spending the night in the helicopter. He, however, did not ask for help to be sent or informed him of anything else, such as --- Chi Ying was with him.

“Yeah. Boss Lu got loss in the tourist area and his phone ran out of battery. I happened to run into him.” She knew that all those were just made up by Lu JingYan but she really couldn’t come up with anything else… might as well just use the same excuse with Jiang Chong.

Low and behold, Jiang Chong’s face changed colored, his volume went up a little, and the disbelief in his voice grew stronger. “Loss? Miss Chi… are you serious?”

“……” Chi Ying felt embarrassed for a few seconds there. Sure enough, Jiang Chong could tell right away that it was a lie. She was the only one who was foolish enough to have almost fell for it. “That’s not the point… What I wanted to say was, Boss Lu is not feeling well. Do you know where the medicines are kept?” said Chi Ying.

Jiang Chong, “……”

Jiang Chong would never have expected that Boss Lu would take all of his crazy words seriously and to follow them through efficiently… Boss Lu was surely a very resolute person and Chi Ying was destined to be the calamity in his life.

Jiang Chong didn’t believe that Boss Lu was really lost; naturally, he didn’t believe that he was sick either. What he really wanted to say was, “Don’t worry, Miss Chi. He just might be kidnapped by Somalian pirates shortly. Just be mentally prepared for that.”

But he worried that saying that might foil Boss Lu’s plans. After all, it wasn’t every day that the level-headed and healthy Boss Lu would get loss and get sick… he needed to make good use of this opportunity. Just this afternoon, he had sworn that he wanted to help Boss Lu along.

Finally Jiang Chong said, “… there are no medicines so I guess we will have to trouble Miss Chi to take care of Boss Lu for the night. I will send Boss Lu’s doctor over tomorrow when the rain subsides.”

· Waiting for a more up-to-date novel where MC (or any character in the book) would just wave the phone in front of the unconscious person’s face and unlock the phone with facial recognition… I have already seen that a few times in some murder mystery shows… Does it require the person’s eyes to be opened for facial recognition to work?

And, if he uses her birthday as the passcode, I don’t see why she can’t browse through his phone. I’d consider that and “go ahead, look away.” But that’s just me. 😊
