Chapter 76 -   With his head hung low, this was the first time XingXing felt that he wasn’t all that keen about going to school. (1)

One way or another, she has the money in hand now.

Cheng Huan spent half an hour’s time in recollecting her emotions before she went to deposit the money into her bank account. The worker there greeted her eagerly and introduced a lot of financial management tools to her.

Unfortunately, Cheng Huan knew nothing about these and it was just not meant to be. She had no choice but to turn her down politely.

When she arrived home, she wanted to give the person in charge of “Hotpot King” a call but she hesitated again after she found the number.

The property management place recommended two locations to her. Back then she had only looked at one of them. Now that she has the money in hand, why not take a look at the second location as well?

Thinking about it, Cheng Huan moved on her decision immediately.

She gave Xu Li a call, telling her that she would not be there that night. Then she asked her neighbor to watch over XingXing. XingXing wanted to go with her, but Cheng Huan felt that the place was quite far away and decided against it.

It was 5:30 PM and traffic has built up slowly. There was no bus or subway that would take her to 73 Xinsi Road directly and she wasn’t able to find a taxi. Standing there with a mouthful of dust, Cheng Huan finally decided to walk over there.

Xinsi Road was the road behind her little district. After she had walked over there, Cheng Huan saw the number 296 on a building. She walked in the direction where the street numbers decreased progressively. A stretch of the road was quite desolate with barely any traffic. Cheng Huan felt dubious about it for a little while. She walked down some more and the traffic increased again, which made her felt better.

No. 73 was located close to a street with many pubs on it. Foot traffic would be heavy at night.

When Cheng Huan went over there, she was mixed in with others who were heading over to start work. On the not-so-wide street, many attractive men and women walked past her and she could smell their fragrance in her nose. Occasionally, there would be someone who looked like a thug standing on the side of the street whistling to girls who walked past. Not even Cheng Huan was able to avoid that.

Cheng Huan was almost ready to rule out the location before she even found it. But she was there already and she didn’t like to give up in the middle of something, so she continued to move forward following the street signs.

Just as the property management had told her, 73 Xinsi Road was a two-story building facing the street. The restaurant was still in business and it was a lobster place.

On her way there, Cheng Huan had already noticed that most of the shops on that road were lobster places with a few occasional hot pot or chicken clay pot restaurants.

Business there was quite good. It wasn’t even dinner time yet and they already have some 4-5 tables of patrons. Cheng Huan looked on for a little bit from the outside before she turned around and left. All in all, she did not spend too much time there.

The sky was even darker on my way back and the street lights had already came on. After she had walked past the street with the pubs, the foot traffic on the street died down. The trees that were planted for the purpose of afforestation casted dim shadows under the moonlight. That, along with the autumn breeze, was enough to give one goosebumps.

For some reason, Cheng Huan suddenly recalled many ghost stories that she had heard in the past. She has never been a brave person. Back in the days, she’d be too scared to even go to the bathroom after she had watched a ghost movie. She was even more timid after she had transmigrated; always feeling that she was being surrounded by ghosts and spirits. The first few days that she had started her booth at the night market, she would force herself to recite Socialist Core Values on her way home. It had only gotten better after she had gotten used to going home at that hour.
