Uncle Zong, “Xuelu, Rugui hurt his back at the base and I am heading over to the base with Commander right now. Would you like to join us?”

Tong Xuelu frowned. “How bad is it? How did he hurt himself?”

Uncle Zong, “We’ve heard he was hit by a cabinet and he couldn’t move right now. I am going over to take care of him for a few days.”

Tong Xuelu said, “I’ll go with you.”

Uncle Zong, “Just wait for us at the restaurant. We will swing by and pick you up.”

After hanging up on the phone, Tong Xuelu let the others know that she would be taking off, bought some of the snacks and dumplings from the restaurant, and have them make some more to replace them.

Twenty or so minutes later, Pu Jianyi’s car arrived.

Tong Xuelu got inside and she saw Old Mr. Wen frowning and looking very worried.

Her heart dropped.

Was Wen Rugui hurt very badly?

Tong Xuelu even imagined Wen Rugui turning into a paraplegic and she turned pale.

Old Mr. Wen did not notice the look on Tong Xuelu.

He had just learned that Wen Rugui’s mother very likely would return to Capital City with her husband.

Once they were back, the woman would for certain come looking for Wen Rugui. He would not let her mess up Wen Rugui’s currently peaceful life.

He needed to think about how to stop them from returning to Capital City.

Old Mr. Wen’s face was taut. It didn’t occur to him that his look would make Tong Xuelu worried.

Tong Xuelu immediately saw Wen Rugui laying in bed with a blanket over him with only his head showing when she walked inside the dormitory. She heard a loud BANG inside her head.

Did he really become a paraplegic?

If he had really become a paraplegic, his life would be over.

Even with modern technology before her transmigration, they had yet to cure someone who was paraplegic. If that was the case with Wen Rugui, would she have the patience to take care of him for life?

Uncle Zong, too, felt awful. He pulled out the things that he had brought with him one by one and went to check and see whether Wen Rugui had any water inside his canteen. He was running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Pu Jianyi winked at him. “Get well soon. There is something that I want to talk to you about.”

Wen Rugui got what he meant right away.

Pu Jianyi was a bit of a blabbermouth, but he had a nice job. Not only did both his parents work for the government, but they were also very easy-going people.

Should Jiao Yunshi end up with Pu Jianyi, his teacher would have nothing to worry about.

Old Mr. Wen nagged for quite a while and, seeing that Tong Xuelu had yet to have a chance to talk to Wen Rugui, finally got up and left with Pu Jianyi, leaving the two some room to talk to each other.

Tong Xuelu sat down on the chair next to the bed and she had mixed feelings. “Don’t worry too much. Get some rest. You will recover in no time.”

Wen Rugui looked at her and frowned. “I don’t think I will be able to recover from this.”

His waist had been hurting a lot lately and he would break out into cold sweat every time he tried to move. He couldn’t even sit up straight, let alone doing what that male dog was doing.

Tong Xuelu tightened her lips a little. “Don’t be so pessimistic. Maybe there will be a miracle.”

Wen Rugui’s face turned pale. “Xuelu, I can’t drag you into this. Just forget about the proposal and go and find yourself a nice man……”

Tong Xuelu felt that her heart was pinched by an invisible hand.

She wasn’t sure earlier whether she would have the patience to take care of Wen Rugui for life. Hearing what he said now, she felt sad and didn’t want to part with him. “Don’t worry, Rugui. I will stay with you even if you are paraplegic!”
