Tong Xuelu had been keeping an eye out on what Tong Zhenzhen might come up with but, oddly, there had been no movements on Tong Zhenzhen’s end so far.

Nor did anyone from the other Tong family come over and gloated to her. It was truly as though they were just strangers to each other.

Even though Tong Xuelu had no idea what Tong Zhenzhen had in mind but, for as long as she wasn’t bothering her, Tong Xuelu wasn’t going to be the first to make a move.

It wasn’t even noon yet when Pu Jianyi phoned Tong Xuelu and asked her to save him a few nice dishes.

Tong Xuelu, “What kind of nice dishes? We have dumplings, braised fish, and spicy chicken today. What would you like?”

Pu Jianyi said, “I’ll take them all. Preferably made by you.”

Tong Xuelu lifted her brows a little. “What do you have planned? Are you taking out your boss or your girlfriend?”

Pu Jianyi, “Neither of those. I am taking out Jiang Danhung.”

Ever since he had returned from visiting Wen Rugui, Pu Jianyi had been wanting to apologize to Jiang Danhung. Jiang Danhung, however, hadn’t been giving the time of the day.

Luckily he was one with thick skin. He even had his mom help him out and was finally able to convince Jiang Danhung to meet up with him.

He planned to apologize to her officially today.

Tong Xuelu got it right away. “Sure, just come on by.”

Pu Jianyi and Jiang Danhung arrived at the restaurant separately at noon.

Jiang Danhung looked skinnier than when Tong Xuelu saw her last and also looked a little pale.

Tong Xuelu asked, concerned, “Big Sister Danhung, you don’t look well. Is everything okay?”

Jiang Danhung smiled and shook her head. “I’m fine. I caught the cold a little while back but I have already recovered from it.”

Tong Xuelu, “I didn’t even know that you were ill. I’m so sorry.”

Jiang Danhung waved her hand. “It’s nothing serious. I didn’t let anyone know because I didn’t want to be a bother.”

Tong Xuelu knew her well and didn’t continue with that subject. She had Jiang Danhung find a spot for herself while she went to finish the spicy chicken dish.

Pu Jianyi had been standing there when they two were talking and quickly smiled at Jiang Danhung when they were done. “Have a seat, Big Sister Danhung.”

Jiang Danhung gave him a look and said, “I think you should stick to Comrade Jiang. I don’t think I should be your Big Sister.”

Pu Jianyi looked a little embarrassed. “Comrade Jiang, I had made a mistake in the past. I should not have said what I’ve said. I realized now that I was wrong and I want to apologize to you officially!”

Having said that, he stood up and bowed deeply at Jiang Danhung.

Jiang Danhung raised her brows as she looked at him. “You are apologizing to me because you wish for me to speak well of you to Yunshi?”

Pu Jianyi scratched his head but did not conceal his intention. “I sincerely want to apologize and also sincerely wish for you to speak well of me. I had been meaning to apologize for a while now but I was embarrassed. I only finally made up my mind after talking to Comrade Tong last time.”

Having said that, he bowed again. “I’m sorry. I hope that you will be the bigger person and forgive me.”

Who would have ever thought that the Team Captain of Investigation would apologize to someone in such a humble manner?

Jiang Danhung’s lips tightened a little when she saw him like that. “Okay, I’ll forgive you for the sake of your parents. That being said, I am not going to speak well of you either.”

Pu Jianyi felt his teeth ached. Nevertheless, he smiled and said, “That’s alright. I am happy with this outcome.”

He trusted that Jiang Danhung was not the type who would speak ill of others behind their back. As long as she had forgiven him, she would not be badmouthing him to Jiao Yunshi.

That was good enough.

Jiang Danhung called him “dawg” in her mind but she didn’t say anything more.

Tong Xuelu had Meng Jingjing and Guo Chunyu brought out the dishes.
