The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories - Ch 501

Chapter 501 - She had underestimated Yan Yongan. (2)

Looking at her expression, Fang Wanyuan said softly, “You have nothing to worry about. You have nothing to do with this.”

Tong Xuelu recollected herself and cleared her throat. “Thank you, Comrade Fang. You shouldn’t be coming here in the future. You don’t want to draw any attention.

Fang Wanyuan’s eyes dimmed. He tightened his lips a little and said, “I know. I’ll have Jingyuan relate messages to you in the future.”

Tong Xuelu nodded.

Tong Xuelu was not able to fall asleep that night.

Tong Zhenzhen, too, was not able to fall asleep. Her sleeplessness, however, was caused by excitement.

Climbing out of bed, Tong Zhenzhen paced inside her room with her jacket over herself.

This was awesome. She was able to dragged Su Yueshen down. Yan Yongan had said that even if Su Yueshen was able to get away scotch-free, he would not be able to resume his old position.

The Deputy Director of the Revolutionary Committee was a very important role and someone who had once slipped in that role would no longer be able to hold that position.

In short, an opportunity had presented itself to Yan Yongan.

As he had put it himself, he had 80-90% certainty that he could land the position and then he would marry Tong Zhenzhen.

She had played a big role in this.

In her previous life, her husband was an administrator at the Ministry of Public Security Security Bureau. She learned from him that Mu Zhuwei was a spy.

Her husband from before wasn’t a very capable man. Other than bedding her, he also loved talking about his work. Which was why she knew so much about the government.

After she had told Yan Yongan about Mu Zhuwei, Yan Yongan started making plans. The first thing he did was to sell his wife’s position at the Women’s Federation to the Gu’s family.

He then had her go and work at the Women’s Federation. The fall out between herself and Gu Yilan was also part of Yan Yongan’s plan.

The plan was moved up on the timeline a little. Her running into Tong Xuelu at the department store was not part of the plan. Nevertheless, the encounter was able to speed up their plans.

Even Tong Xuelu had no idea that she had inadvertently helped them out and also got the Gu’s into a very bad position.

She wondered whether the Gu family would hold grudges against Tong Xuelu when they found out later on.

She definitely looked forward to finding that out.

The thought of it made Tong Zhenzhen laughed.

A week later, Tong Xuelu saw Su Yueshen, who had been released.

Tong Xuelu was startled by his look.

She recalled the first time he saw him, when he returned from the ranch. He was skinny, but he was in good spirit.

Now, Su Yueshen’s face was covered in stubbles and his cheeks sunkened. He looked very disheveled.

Most importantly, the light that was in his eyes were gone.

It took Tong Xuelu a little while before she recollected herself. “You are released, Comrade Su?”

Su Yueshe nodded. “Yes, and I came to apologize to you.”

Tong Xuelu made room for him. “Here, let’s talk inside.”

Su Yueshen thought about it some and finally walked inside.

Tong Xuelu poured him a glass of water after they got inside the living room and she also got him some snacks. “There is no need to apologize. I should be the one apologizing. I hadn’t visited lately.”

She hadn’t been keep track of what had been going on with the Su’s nor had she visited. It wasn’t so much that she was being cold, but that minimizing contacts was the best protection for both of them.

Su Yueshen waved his hand. “I know what kind of person you are from the fact that you let me into your house. I’m sorry you got involved in this.”

Tong Xuelu shook her head. “It’s fine. All they did was asked me some question. Oh right. How’s Xiao Jiu’s mom? Did she get released as well?”

A sadness crossed Su Yueshen’s eyes when he heard that. “No. I’m afraid she won’t be able to get out.”

Tong Xuelu’s hands shuddered but she didn’t say anything.

Su Yueshen lowered his eyes and his voice was deep. “I don’t even know if she is still alive. This is all my fault. I never should have let her go work at the Women’s Federation.”

He hesitated when Gu Yilan wanted to go to work. Gu Yilan was too overly naïve. That being said, her heading back to the Gu’s everyday didn’t seem to be the best idea either.

Besides, the manager there was the mother of his friend and she had promised that she would watch over Gu Yilan. That was why he finally agreed to it.

Of all the scenarios that crossed his mind, there being a spy in the department and Gu Yilan revealing his document to her was not one of them.

It wasn’t really any important information but that did not change the nature of the incident. He had lost his job for his carelessness and Gu Yilan had been arrested for assisting a spy.

Even if she was still alive, she would be spending the rest of her life locked up.

That thought made Su Yueshen’s eyes turn red.
