Chapter 500 - She had underestimated Yan Yongan. (1)

Everyone’s eyes lit up at when Tong Xuelu returned to the restaurant. “You are back, Manager Tong. Everything alright?”

Tong Xuelu scanned over them and shook her head. “I’m fine, just working with them on an investigation. That being said, do not let a word of what happened today leave this room. I won’t be able to safe you if you get into trouble!”

The other nodded and promised that they would not say a word.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was heavy and Tong Xuelu was also a little distracted. As such, she left as soon as her shift was over.

After she arrived home, Tong Xuelu did not tell her siblings about the event during the day time. She did not tell share that with the Wei family nor did she phoned the Northwest.

Anything that had to do with spies were extremely sensitive and the least people knew about it the better.

Two days later, Fang Wanyuan came looking for her.

Tong Xuelu frowned when she saw him. “Why are you here?”

Fang Wanyuan worked at the government. Certainly he would have heard about Su Yueshen, the Deputy Director of the Revolutionary Committee, being arrested. And he would also have figured that she was pulled into it. Which was exactly why he should not be visiting during this time.

Fang Wanyuan said in a lowered voice, “Let’s go talk inside.”

Tong Xuelu had no choice but to show him inside.

Xiao Jiaming and the others were working on their homework in the study so Tong Xuelu brought Fang Wanyuan to the living room.

Fang Wanyuan did not beat around the bush. He cut to the chase, “Su Yueshen and Gu Yilan were arrested and both the Su and the Gu families were being kept under watchful eyes. Your grandpa wanted me to pass on the message for you to stay out of the Su family’s business.”

Commander Xiao, too, only just heard about this in the last day or so. He was very worried after he heard learned of the incident. Owing to the sensitive nature of it, he dared not contact his own granddaughter directly but to have someone else relate the message.

Tong Xuelu nodded. “Don’t worry. I am no fool.”

This was a matter that concerned the country. It was not something that she could fix easily by being a green tea. That much she knew.

Su Yueshen was collateral damage by his pig teammate Gu Yilan. That being said, he did pick a brainless woman to be his wife. He had it coming.

As for whether he could get out of this one, she had no way of knowing.

Fang Wanyuan let out a sigh of relief. “It was Tong Zhenzhen who turned in Gu Yilan. You better watch out for her.”

Tong Xuelu paused a little. “Do you know how it happened?”

Fang Wanyuan, “The spy is a female comrade by the name of Mu Zhuwei. She had been an administrator at the Women’s Federation for over 10 years. She had always been an quiet, honest, and responsible person. Her being a spy came as a surprise to everyone.

“I heard that she had a good relationship with her colleagues at the Women’s Federation, with the exception of Tong Zhenzhen. The two had a run on almost as soon as Tong Zhenzhen had started working at the Women’s Federation and it escalated to a point that the two could not stand each other. Gu Yilan and Mu Zhuwei had gotten very closed after Gu Yilan’s fall out with Tong Zhenzhen. Then Tong Zhenzhen noticed odd behaviors about Mu Zhuwei and reported her to the Political Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security.

“Mu Zhuwei was just disseminating the information that she had gathered when she was arrested, including a document that she had obtained through Gu Yilan. That was why Su Yueshen and Gu Yilan were both arrested.”

Tong Xuelu frowned.

Tong Zhenzhen had used her rebirth ability again. She must have known all along that Mu Zhuwei was a spy. Came to think about it, that must have been the reason that she even joined the Women’s Federation in the first place.

She would not doubt that even befriending Gu Yilan was part of Tong Zhenzhen’s plan.

Or, could this all have been part of Yan Yongan’s plan?

If that was the case, then Yan Yongan was truly a very dangerous man!
