Chapter 72 - The little assistant followed and made certain that Gu Nian could not get close to his boss. (1)

His effort of trying to stop it from happening had failed, the little assistant could do nothing but watch the fox demon seduced their boss in broad daylight.

In the temporary canteen.

The wooden staircase to the second-floor canteen was shaky as usual, as though it could come crumbling down at any given minute.

The little assistant had a very complicated look on him.

Was this the newest approach of fox demons nowadays? How was she going to seduce their boss in such a public location?

Or, she picked a such a public location purposefully so their boss couldn’t even snap at her even when she was taking advantage of him, say if she was to grab their boss through his dress pants…

The little assistant, “! ! ? ?”

Fox Demon! Shameless!

The little assistant’s face was beet red. Whether it was from anger or embarrassment, only he would know. He dashed toward the stairs angrily.

He must do his best in protecting their boss! And never let him into the trap set by that fox demon who was drooling over his look!

As such, as soon as Gu Nian had finished ordering and went back to their table, she noticed the extra person sitting there – the little assistant who was looking at her with alarm.

“Where’s Mr. Luo Xiu?” asked Gu Nian as she seated herself.

“Brother Luo went to wash his hands.”

“Oh, I see. Assistant Zhu is joining us for lunch?”

The little assistant had a long face. “I have already eaten. I am just here to keep Brother Luo company.”

Gu Nian, “?”

Gu Nian put on a solemn look. “If you have already eaten, then how come my prec… Mr. Luo Xiu hasn’t eaten yet?”

The little assistant was dazed by the questioning coming from an old mother.

Before he could even react to her interrogation, the next question followed. “Is your unconscientious company pressuring your actors to lose weight with no regards to their health again?”

“?”

The girl’s eyes straightened up and she was aggravated in a languid way. “This is against the labor law. Mr. Luo Xiu is skinny enough and shouldn’t lose any more weight. What if this causes damage to his body? Will you be responsible for…”

“Responsible for what?”

The tender but cold voice came from behind her.

Gu Nian immediately put away her solemnness, turned around, and said, “You are back, Mr. Luo Xiu? Have a seat.”

“Mmm.” Luo Xiu sat down and asked casually, “What were you two talking about earlier?”

The little assistant finally recollected himself and immediately took the opportunity to file his complaint. “Brother Luo, you said you didn’t have good appetite earlier and skipped lunch but Miss Gu said I was being…”

“No appetite?”

The smile that Gu Nian had put on her face lasted less than a second. She turned and studied Luo Xiu seriously.

“Was it because you had to work into all kinds of wee hours?”

Luo Xiu felt helpless. “No, it happens from time to time.”

Gu Nian’s eyes lowered and she grumbled anxiously. “You shouldn’t take stomach problems lightly, especially when this field required you to work overnight quite often. You wouldn’t want it progressing into stomach inflammation, ulcer, or perforation. That is no small feat…”

For the remainder of lunch, Gu Nian asked about Luo Xiu’s state of health and talked a lot about maintaining gastrointestinal health in details like an attentive old mother.

The little assistant started out watching out against Gu Nian from scheming over their boss. He got sleepier progressively and, worst of all, he was called out by Gu Nian when he was just about to yawn –

The girl had a very solemn look on her. “You can’t fall asleep. You need to remember the following few points that I was about to point out. You need to know what to do next time Mr. Luo Xiu had an upset stomach.”

The little assistant, “… … … …”

The little assistant was so sleepy that his eyes were about to resemble that of a panda. Failing to run away, he looked over to Luo Xiu seeking for his help multiple times. Unfortunately, his evil boss had ignored him each and every single time.

The little assistant felt that his boss didn’t just ignore his cry for help, he was, in fact, enjoying what was going on!

Such an unconscientious boss!

Half an hour later, the little assistant finally made it through the torturous lunch.

Gu Nian was about to dump out the leftovers and return the trays. She asked, still worried, before she took off, “Did you have all those jotted down?”

“Yes, I did,” replied the little assistant humbly while holding onto his notebook.
