The smile on Mei Jiating froze on her when she opened up the door, stepped inside, and looked up.

There was a couch on the other side of the room and a man in casual shirt and pants with his head lowered looked up when he heard the noise.

Their eyes met.

The man did not look surprised at all. Next to the gold chain that waved in the air, his cold lips curved upward a little.

Mei Jiating’s hand froze on the door handle and she felt an inexplicable chill down her spine.

A dubious voice came from behind her at the same time. “Miss Mei?”

Mei Jiating lowered her head and shuffled inside of the room.

By the time it was done, she was already so tired that she couldn’t even keep her eyes open, her head nodded from time to time.

The assistant makeup artist was about to wake her up when the makeup artist stopped her with the handle of her brush. The makeup artist hrumped and said, “More working, less talking. Go wrap up.”

When the noises disappeared from the end of the hallway, the office door that was ajar opened up and Assistant Director Lin walked out with his mug and a grin on his face.

There was someone else behind him – Geng Hongyu, who had been hiding in the office but never showed his face.

Assistant Director Lin looked away from the other direction and said with a smile, “What did I tell you, Director Geng?”

Geng Hongyu frowned and didn’t anything.

Assistant Director Lin, “Young Master Liu is almost at the end of the rope here. Gu Nian is probably the only one who was still oblivious at this point.”

Geng Hongyu, “You sure that’s who he is?”

Assistant Director Lin, “Pretty much.”

Gu Nian recollected herself and returned to her normal self. She asked, a bit awkwardly, “Have I said too much?”

“No, I just felt that.” Luo Xiu lowered his eyes some. “That it was as though you were speaking from personal experience.”

Gu Nian’s body stiffened.

After a little while, her eyes curved and she smiled, “Of course not. I’m nothing but a little screenwriter. I am not even qualified to experience that kind of hostilities.”

“Is that so?”

“Mmhmm. I have been in the field for a couple of years and had seen and heard enough stories about people causing harm under the disguise of justice.”
