So when I read funny parts in webnovels, I’d share them with Fuyu (see my Dec 20 rambling Badmouthing Fuyu). Fuyu suggested for me to share them in my blog.
Translation: Why don’t you go look for other victims?
So, here we are.
Recently I am reading this webnovel, let’s call it Don’t Fall For Me.
Premise: Boy and girl play survival-type mobile game online together, but they do not know each other’s real identity. Girl likes boy in real life but because she is fond of boy, she presents herself as a little white flower type girl… Lo and behold, boy does not like little white flower, he likes girl’s online personality (her true nature), which was closer to a tomboy. Girl professed love for boy in real life and he turned her down “cruelly” by saying that “I don’t like you. I will never like you. You are not my type.”
Girl was heartbroken and shared that with her mobile game teammates and boy found out he had inadvertently turned down the girl he likes. Though, in this translator’s opinion, it was not his fault because she hid her true self from him. =.=
Neeways, boy tries to fix things.
Here’s a convo (took place a few days after MC was rejected by ML):
Xiao Mai (the youngest teammate on their 4-people online gaming team): “Are you still sad [over being turned down]?”
MC: “What’s there to be sad about? Three-legged frogs are difficult to find; two-legged men are all over the place.
…
ML: “What did you like about him?”
MC: “He’s good looking.”
ML: “That goes without saying. What else?”
ML waited for a long while but didn’t hear a response.
ML: “Was that all?”*
MC: “……”
ML: “……”
He stopped himself from saying something but finally added, “He must be smart, right?”
MC: “Not as smart as Einstein.”
ML: “……”
He stopped himself again, then said, “Then.. he must be very tall, right?”*
MC: “Not as tall as Yao Ming.”
ML: “Then he must be kind-hearted and always willing to help others.”
MC (refusing to admit to it): “Isn’t that basic courtesy even for kindergarteners?”
ML, so annoyed that he almost shouted out her real name.
Xiao Mai and the other teammate, really wanted to tell ML to stop while he was ahead.

Is the MC still shallow if that’s is the ML’s only strength? =D I guess so…
How’s being tall any better than just being good looking? I guess that makes him tall and good looking… better than short and good looking. =D
