Chapter 4 - “Madam said she will be resting up with her friend in the room this afternoon and asked not to be disturbed.” (1)

It was early in the morning and Lu Mingcheng was getting ready in the bathroom when Jiang Qiuyi woke up.

She looked at the clock. It was exactly 7 AM.

Lu Mingcheng always had a very precise biological close. It didn’t matter what time he went to bed, he would always wake up at 6 AM the next morning, workout for an hour, and finished up getting around 7 AM.

In the past, Jiang Qiuyi would crawl out of bed immediately, iron his work clothes for him, and tidy his necktie for him.

She would take over all the work that a servant could do.

Today, on the other hand, as she listened to the sound of the water, Jiang Qiuyi’s eyelashes fluttered, she rolled over and went back to sleep.

When Lu Mingcheng walked out of the bathroom, he reminded her habitually, “Qiuyi, I have an important meeting today. I need a tie that’s…”

Before he could even say “more business like”, he saw the woman who was still in bed.

Jiang Qiuyi had her back to the bathroom and was still curled up underneath the blanket.

She didn’t move at all.

Lu Mingcheng paused for a few seconds and was a bit surprised.

He raised his brows some and walked over to her. He touched her forehead with his palm and made sure that she was just sleeping, walked inside of the walk-in closet baffled.

When Lu Mingcheng went downstairs, the chef had already prepared breakfast for two. The butler and the servant were also waiting to one side.

Seeing that Lu Mingcheng had came down by himself, Uncle Xu, the butler of this mansion, asked in surprise, “Good morning, Sir. Is the Madam not joining you for breakfast?”

Lu Mingcheng acknowledged him and said nonchalantly, “She’s still sleeping.”

Uncle Xu raised his brows in disbelief.

Their madam was sleeping in?

Lu Mingcheng didn’t want to elaborate on it and ate his breakfast quietly.

Uncle Xu thought about it for a little and went to find out more details from a servant.

He was tied it by something else yesterday and was not there yesterday.

When Uncle Xu returned after his inquiry, Lu Mingcheng was almost done with his breakfast.

He looked over at Uncle Xu before he took off and said, “Did something happen at home the last couple of days?”

Uncle Xu replied respectfully, “Old Madam had a few friends over to have afternoon tea with Madam yesterday.”

“And?” asked Lu Mingcheng.

“Madam seemed to not be feeling well. She retired into the bedroom after the ladies took off,” replied Uncle Xu.

Understanding what had happened, Lu Mingcheng gave him a look and asked, “The family doctor didn’t come?”

Uncle Xu seemed a bit embarrassed, “Madam said it was no big deal.”

Knowing his wife’s personality, Lu Mingcheng said calmly, “Have the doctor come over later.”

“Yes, Sir,” replied Uncle Xu.

Lu Mingcheng headed out and, seemingly recalled something before he got into the car, said, “Have the chef make breakfast food that Madam likes when she wakes up.”

“Surely.” Uncle Xu nodded.

***

Jiang Qiuyi was faking sleeping at the beginning but ended up falling asleep for real.

When she woke up again, the sun was already up.

She rolled around a little in bed before she looked at the time on her cellphone.

It was 9 AM already.

She had never slept in so much since she married Lu Mingcheng.

After walking into the bathroom, Jiang Qiuyi looked at the lively and pretty face in the mirror. Her eyes glistening.

Her skin, with enough sleep, was so tender that it looked like water could seep out of it. Why did she ever bother getting up so early to wait on that heartless capitalist hand and foot in the past?

She regretted about it if someone was to ask.

The person in question regretted a lot about it.

Jiang Qiuyi went downstairs for breakfast after she had gotten ready.

Uncle Xu brought her breakfast out two minutes after she sat down in the dining room.

“Good morning, Madam.”

Looking at the rice noodle on the dinner table, she turned to Uncle Xu and asked, “Mister had rice noodles as well?”

“No,” said Uncle Xu with a gentle smile. “Mister specifically told the kitchen to make this for you.”

Jiang Qiuyi was not a native of City Ning. She moved over here when her parents’ business started taking off when she was in high school.

Rice noodles was the common breakfast where she was from.

She rarely had authentic rice noodles since she had moved to City Ning.

She had it twice since she had married Lu Mingcheng.

Rice noodles was stronger tasting and heavy on carb. Lu Mingcheng wasn’t a fan so Jiang Qiuyi never had it again since.

She was fairly surprised by the breakfast today.

Jiang Qiuyi thought about it a little. Perhaps he knew that he was about to wrong her in the most awful way possible, that was why he was being nice to her now.

Jiang Qiuyi glanced over at the rice noodle and thought to herself: Oh no, she is not someone who could be easily bought.

Starting today, she would have Lu Mingcheng look at her in “whole different light”.
