The seller was quite nice. He even toiled the soil in the front and back yards. There was nothing in them with the exception of a few Chinese roses in the corner. Shu Yan planned to check out the flower market when she had a chance and see if she could find any flowers that were pretty and easy to maintain.

She would cordon off a small area and reserve that for green onions and Chinese chives. Those she would need for making stir frying dishes and noodle dishes. They were both easy to maintain. It would be convenient to grow them herself.*

She could forget about other vegetables. She neither had the time nor did she think she would be able to keep them alive.

“What are you planning to grow?”

Shu Yan was scribbling on a piece of paper when she suddenly heard Feng Zeyu’s voice. She turned to look at him and said, “I don’t know yet. Some flowers.”

That shut the younger daughter-in-law up. Both her father- and mother-in-law worked and her father-in-law was a LV 8 worker with awesome pay and benefits. He even got a 70 m2 house from work. They didn’t need to split that with any other families. It was solid 70 m2 with three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. They were the envy of others. All of those went to them when they divided up the assets. Then there were the couple’s life savings. The old lady still had possession of them but for sure they would go to them in the future. How could they split all those with the brother-in-law’s family?

“If you can’t do that then keep your mouth shut. Lao Xia and I saved up for this house by being frugal along with a large sum of money from my side of the family. It has nothing to do with you at all.” The older daughter-in-law pointed straight at the old lady. “How are you able to even bring this up? Must be getting old and your skin is getting thicker. You don’t even think things through before you blurt them out.”

The Village Party Secretary would need to be there for the transaction. Shu Yan would not dare to buy the house without him there to sign and leave his thumb print.

“You really decided to sell your house?” The Village Party Secretary was a distant relative of the seller. He felt odd that they wanted to sell the house and buy overseas.

“Yeah, we don’t have much choices. Nannan has to work and take care of the baby. It was hard. We can’t sit by and watch. It is not like we have anything in particular to take care of here. So we might as well go over there and help our daughter take care of the baby.” The owner smiled. As long as they could be with their daughter, it didn’t matter where they live.

“I object. I object to you selling this house.”

The house was fine, of course. Shu Yan was happy with the layout, square footage, and location of it. Now all it came down to was the price. If the price was reasonable, she would buy it.

“So you’ve decided?” Most other people would look a few times before making a decision. This one only need to tour it once.

“More or less. It is not going to change much even if I look at it a few more times. Find out their bottom line. I’ll buy it if the price is reasonable.” Truth was, it was alright to stay at an old house like this occasionally. A flat was much for comfortable to live in on a permanent basis. Not to mention that Shu Yan designed her current place using the design from 20-30 years later. It was very comfortable to live in. She only wanted to buy this for investment purposes.

To put it bluntly, she was going to wait for the demolition time. Whether she would be compensated with another house or an office, she could always rent it out for a handsome amount of money.
