Chapter 232 - Sweet dreams? Is he telling her to dream about him? (2)

Leaving from Big Grandpa, the three of them walked down a little path. This area was very eco-friendly, closed to the mountains and surrounded by water. There weren’t much factories around so the sky seemed particularly blue.

There was a street lamp every few feet or so. They were not very bright but enough so the road was visible. Cheng Huan kicked away a little piece of pebble and looked up at the stars in the sky. Holding the hand of the man next to her even tighter, she said, “The air is so good here and the stars look brighter than everywhere else’s.”

“We can move here later on if you like.” With his son in his arm and his girlfriend in his hand, Jiang MingYuan became romantic for the brief moment. He started describing what their future would be like. “The sceneries on this mountain is beautiful and the air is even better. We can have a path that leads up into the mountain right from our backyard. That would make it easier for us to go into the mountain.

“The backyard is spacious. We can add in a few additional structures. Do you like flowers? If you do, we can add a green house. One that looks like the one at Big Grandpa’s. That way there will be flowers in the winter time as well. We can also have some pets. What do you think about parrots? Cats and dogs will be fine too. Or are there anything else that you like? We have lots of rooms for the animals to roam. We won’t be needing a gym. The air is so good here that I can just jog outside. We can build a soccer field though. That way XingXing can use it when he gets older.”

Cheng Huan didn’t think that the one thing that she had said would bring about so much from him. She listened to his future plan quietly but finally had to remind him, “What about your work?”

“Work…” Jiang MingYuan went silent for a little while. “I can move the headquarter…”

“Even if you are willing, it doesn’t mean the others would too.” Cheng Huan rocked his hand back and forth and said happily. “Stop with that crazy thought already. This fantasy will have to wait until after retirement. We can retire here and do some fishing. Forget about hiking up the mountain. It’s not good for your joints.”

Jiang MingYuan turned to look at her. Listening to her talking about retirement, he could almost see the old him and the not-so-young her leaning on each other. The smile on him deepened.

He couldn't help but leaned in and gave her a peck on the lips that were still parting and closing. Smiling, he said, “Okay. Whatever you say. We won’t do any hiking.”

Blushing, Cheng Huan pursed her lips and fell back behind by a step and added deliberately, “I was just kidding.”

“Mmm.”

“Why would we be talking about retirement when we are still so young?”

“You are right. We must live in the moment.”

“Jiang MingYuan!” His left hand was tugged.

“Right here.”

“Stop laughing.”

“Okay.” But he couldn’t control the laugh in his voice.

Cheng Huan hrumped and ignored him. When they were about to arrive home, she asked again, “Are you still hungry? I can use a little more food. Let’s make some noodles when we get home.”

“Okay.”

***

They made noodles after they were home. These were made from dried noodles and tasted just alright. Edible was all they were.

It was only a little past 8 PM after they finished their second meal. Still early and not bed time yet. There were not a lot in terms of entertainment in this little town and not much to do other than watching television and playing on one’s cellphone.

XingXing didn’t bring his toys with him and was bored. He asked daddy to tell him stories. Jiang MingYuan didn’t mind that. He pulled Cheng Huan over as well and started telling them stories about his past.

He told them funny stories when he was a child and how he didn’t like to study, that he looked down on others because he felt very talented himself. He also talked about other interesting things that had happened during his school years and what some of his former classmates were doing nowadays. But the one he talked about the most was his father.
